SEC-S10W5: My story of losing a precious thing

I don’t know about you, but when I lose something I get totally stressed out. I am lost!
It will often feel like I am losing my perception of life, that I am no longer connected, and that I have lost my drive to be responsible.

I know hate is a harsh word, but I hate losing things. Don’t you?

Have I ever lost something that was very important to me?

Oh yes I have! And if your answer is no to this question you are not human at all.

I’ve lost something that was and is still very important to me. TIME!

If we look at the different stages of life we get prenatal or infancy, childhood, school age, teenager, adulthood, and lastly aging.

My life is definitely in the aging stage. The stage where time starts to matter.

"I cannot believe that half of the year is already gone!"
"Christmas was just the other day."

William James wrote in his book "Principles of Psychology," that as we get older life starts to get boring. We remember fewer happenings and that is the reason why it feels like time is flying as our days pass us by with insignificant events.

Yet we value time as it is more important than all the money in the world. This is me. It came as a shock to me on my last birthday that I am not getting younger but older. For the first time in my life I actually thought about my age and the possible time I have left on this beautiful earth of us. It was also then that the true meaning of time sunk in.

⌚ Every second counts
⌚ Every minute is special
⌚ Every hour adds up
⌚ Every day is precious
⌚ Every month is a gift
⌚ Every year is a miracle

I am losing valuable time! Time that is important to me…

The emotions I go through when I lose time

When it comes to being on time you can call me a perfectionist. I am never late. I am always the one who waits for others. Let’s take a Sunday in our household. I will wake the men up at least an hour before we have to leave for church. They have ample time to get ready yet I sit in the car waiting for them Sunday after Sunday losing precious time.

Let’s take a morning at the doctor. I always make sure that I book that first appointment of the day. Although I am there a good fifteen minutes before the time I always wait more than an hour to see him losing precious time, something I can never understand.

  • I cannot help but feel irritated
  • My anxiety levels increase
  • I feel uncertain of what is going to follow
  • I feel extremely frustrated
  • I am annoyed with those close to me
  • I often feel disappointed not only with society but also with myself when my time gets wasted

I regret the time that I’ve wasted in my life. Times that are lost forever.

What do I do to get time back?

I don’t have a magic wand, I don’t live near the Trevi Fountain in Rome, Thailand’s Erawan Shrine, or Blarney Stone in Ireland to make a wish.

No, I cannot get time back! Once it is gone, it is gone.

The steps I take to avoid losing time

I might not be able to get time back, but I can make sure that I limit the time I lose. Time is too precious for me to waste it on things that don’t really matter to me, things I don’t enjoy, and things that I cannot learn from. Time is also precious when I have things I need to do.

As I said earlier, it is only recently that I have come to the realization that time is now of the utmost importance to me. Therefore I am still learning what I need to do to not waste time.

I have managed to do the following so far;

  • I rise early as sleep is a waste of time for me
  • I schedule or plan my day as far as possible
  • I like to prioritize, normally doing the most difficult tasks first
  • I try to complete tasks as efficiently and quickly as possible
  • I multitask
  • If I know I am going to wait for someone I make sure that I do something valuable during that time. I normally read or study
  • I make sure that I spend more time with my family

It is only when you grow older that time plays a significant role in your life. It is also then that you start understanding the true meaning of "time is the most precious commodity."

My advice to all of you is: don’t lose time, but use it wisely as we all get older with each second.

Time is the one thing that can never be recovered once lost. If it is gone, then it is gone forever! I have equally lost some time as I am growing older. But one thing is sure, if you had used the times that are gone for something valuable and worthwhile, then you can only roominate on them and have inner joy. Growing old is not at fault here, it is what was done with those years that have passed that matters, they are capable of keeping our old ages vibrant. You for your part have accomplished a lot with the time that are gone. You should always reflect back and be happy, you have not lost it for nothing but for something. I want to congratulate you for always using your time wisely.

In all, time is precious, we can only try hard to utilize every time that we have left just as you have outlined. Your timeline pictures are cute. Thank you for the mention dear friend. I wish you success!

Awh! What a nice comment! Thank you! 🎕
You are right, I've been blessed. Up until now, I've had a full life, and I've made the most of it. It is time for me to count my blessings, one by one.
I must tell you that time was on my side this week... I could spend every free moment I had with my mom. It was so special.
I've come to realize that the biggest organizing we can do is with our time.

I am extremely sorry for late reply as yesterday was my cousin's brother birthday, so I couldn't get time.

Time! Oh yes, Right! you mentioned the same as your precious thing. It is the thing we values when we reached a certain time of life. Like you said about your mother ma'am. We often do not understand the value of time but when we go through various experience at that time we recall those days and understand how time is Precious for us.

I will pray to God for your mother's good health. I am grateful to get your invitation.
Lots of love 💕 and 🤗 hugs. Always stay blessed and happy.

My mom went back home this morning with the result that I have a heavy heart tonight.
I just hope that I will be able to see her just one more time. 🤞

Every second, every minute, every hour, every day, every month, every year - each one is valuable. And losing time? It's like losing a precious gem that we can never get back. So, I completely understand why you're feeling frustrated about it. It’s a feeling that resonates with many of us, and I’m sure of that. Thanks for the mention. I wish you the best of luck in the contest! 😊

Time is a terrible thing. Even here on Steemit, time often runs away from us.

It is when you get old that you wish you had done more with your time.

Absolutely, time is a precious and valuable resource that we all have in common. As we go through the different stages of life, we become more aware of the significance of time and how it shapes our experiences and priorities. It's natural to reflect on the passage of time and recognize its importance in our lives. Cherishing each moment and making the most of our time is a beautiful mindset to have. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and reminding us of the value of time.

It is for me to say thank you for the visit to my blog, the engagement, and the fantastic comment! Thank you! ☕

Time is one of those things that doesn't knock; it doesn't run; it just ticks and ticks and ticks. It is the same today as it was yesterday, and it will be the same tomorrow.
We should not end up underestimating it.

Time is something we have losed alot in life ma, we really need to control the way we waste time if not time will waste us.

I remember when I just graduated from secondary school and I was all alone in the house, blogging in steemit and looking for a job. I wanted to learn the barbing first but my parents didn't have enough money to pay so they said I will work first. I began to look for job, I submitted my CV but I wasn't getting the job.

I tried my best to secure a job and as soon as I saw that have searched for job for 2 months, I got angry and withdraw few steem in steemit to pay for the skill and I began to learn barbing before I will waste my time for nothing.

Am glad you know ways you can avoid wasting time, that's good. The picture you shared with us about your ages, made me emotional 😥time run fast. I will save this picture.

I wish you good luck in this contest, I participated yesterday and here's my entry, please do well to visit it.

You make wonderful comments on my posts ma so you deserve wonderful comments from me as well.

When I saw your invite I wanted to just vote and leave but something urged me to calm down and read it later.
I was waiting for a cab on my to the salon and decided to read it in the cab
I found one I began to read your post. I was so emotional.

Time and patience really work together. Most times we get to wait for something because God has something in stock for us. He never wanted me to work but to learn a skill and have done that.

God indeed has a way to speak to all of us my friend. Amen! 🙏
