Independence Day Instagram Post_20240425_015121_1.png

Festivals are wonderful events that keeps alot of memories in our mind, my country Nigeria has alot of festivals that makes the country more lively and unique. No matter what, I love my country alot. Nigeria is a wonderful place to be in even though there are so many negative things in this country. Anyway that's a talk for another day, let's focus on my post national festival of Nigeria. This week engagement challenge theme is very interesting and nationalistic.

What is the national festival of your country? How did it start

The national festival of my country I will be talking about today is Independence Day, this is a very important and special day in my country. This day is the celebrated on the 1st day of October every year as it is seen as the day that Nigeria gained independence entirely from the British empire and it wasn't easy for us to gain this independence as our past heroes fought different types of battles before we could be able to achieve this.

Immediately we gained this independence we had our own leaders, starting from the president to other minsters and senators. This festival has so many things that makes Nigerians remember the story of how we gained independence and it is also taught in primary schools till today. Independence Day is filled with green and white color in the country which is the color of our country's flag. Nigeria is highly blessed and I pray finally becomes the best country in the world someday.

How is this festival celebrated? Are there any special rules for celebrating it?

This festival is celebrated on the first day of October every year as I said earlier. Is very important to celebrate this day in my country because it is not an ordinary day. Alot of events do take place around the country on this great day. March past is done by the military in the capital of Nigeria which is Abuja state. The president and his agents are always present to watch the wonderful performance by the military.

Nigeria military men can march very well and if you watch their march past videos you will believe what am saying. Another thing that takes on that day is wonderful performance by the children who normally make different types of performance like cultural dances, drama presentations, quiz and others.

The military also do some wonderful things in the sky and these are the Nigerian Air force. They normally use their jet to create wonderful performances in the sky which is visible for everyone present to see. Fireworks are also made that day because of a very special day with maximum celebrations that lasts till 11pm on that day.

Are there any special outfits or foods for celebrating your national festival?

Yes there's a special outfit that some many citizens of Nigeria always put on that day, this outfit can be any kind of clothes but the major color is Green and White, our country flag colors has only this two colors that's why is the color of everyone's outfit for that day.

There's no special food as all foods are accepted and consumed but that green and white outfit is the main thing for the day. I also love dressing in green and white color on such days. Whenever that day is closer, people selling clothes always have more green and white color clothes because they know independence day is closer and this their idea always give them the opportunity to make enough money before independence day.

Tell us about your favorite memory from celebrating your national festival.

Yes my favorite memory was when my school was selected among one of the schools that will participate in a march past competition in a big stadium in the state am currently living in Nigeria. I was so joyous that day as I got the opportunity to learn so many new things and also see so many students from different schools. The day was full of green and white as all the schools had to prepare a unique green and white outfit for those marching.

Is only during children day that we normally wear our main school uniforms to march and not green and white outfit. On that day my school took 3rd position out of the 75 schools that participated and our director was so proud of us for being among the top 3 winners. I was so joyous that day to the extent I went back home very late because I was just celebrating with everyone.

I invite @crowd1, @goodybest, @patjewell and @pelon53 to participate in this contest.

Yes dear it was very nice to read your post and also got a lot of information to know about the independence day in your country as 1st October is celebrated in your country with great enthusiasm. Indeed, this is the day which we cannot forget because we did not get the country so easily, this holy land was obtained due to the sacrifices of the great and great elders, so we should appreciate it and give it to him. It should be celebrated with enthusiasm and full spirit and a message should be given to every country that this is our freedom day which we have earned with so much sacrifice.

@smartlouis brother,,Greetings to this contest,,

Independence is something we all love, which gives us and our country sovereignty and indicates that the country is not ruled by any foreign enemy.

Independence day is celebrated with various activities, out of which military activities are very beautiful and spectacular. And I like the air force activities the most.

Once on independence day your school got a chance to perform in a huge stadium where you got 3rd position out of 75 schools out of 72 schools which is really a matter of pride.

Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful presentation about Nigeria's Independence Day. Stay tuned.

• Best Regards,

Bangladesh celebrates its independence on March 26th. It's a day of great significance for the country, marking the declaration of independence from Pakistan in 1971 after a long and arduous struggle for self-determination. The people of Bangladesh faced immense challenges and sacrifices during their fight for independence, making the celebration of their freedom all the more meaningful. It's indeed a unique and wonderful occasion for Bangladeshis to commemorate their history and honor the resilience of their nation. Hope you got the idea about our Independence Day.

Oh 26th March😮. It wasn't an easy thing at all and I heard the story from a steemian's post in steemit.

I also heard that the red color in you people's flag signifies the blood that was spilled during the war for independence.

Our flag colors are red on green, green is our natural beauty and red is used for blood. Thank you for being aware of our history.

I am a Nigerian also, and 1st October is when our country gained her independence In 1960 to be precised, it is a day we were freed from the colonial or British rule and we decided to stand on our own, thereby having the rights to freedom of speech, religion, to make our own decisions and act as we pleased. So we always celebrates this day to remember our past heroes for their selfless sacrifices and contributions to where we are today.

It is a nice feeling to be on the winning side, out of 75 schools that participated in the competition, your school came 3rd position I can imagine the joy you had. More wins to you
