When I was a child, I noticed adults and especially grandparents seemed to place a high value on "childhood memories".
So, I began to collect mementos from my childhood, not because I thought they were "special", but rather because I anticipated being nostalgic for them later in life.
At certain points throughout my adult life, I've revisited these mementos and failed to muster any nostalgia, I sort of weighed the potential pros of keeping these items (increasingly unlikely future nostalgia) against the inconvenience of storing and periodically moving (and explaining) these items.
Over time, they've either been lost or thrown away now, and only now, many years later, do I feel nostalgic for them.
But it's my sense of loss itself, my memory of the items, that actually seems sweet.
When I examined the items, they didn't "spark joy" so-to-speak, at least not in the moment.
And I know when I forget them, I will not miss them.
But I don't look forward to forgetting them.

Do you think it is possible that just about everything we do is a form of reward hacking?
Do you think that even thw people working on AI are doing it for some imagined reward in the future?

I've never really considered the thin line which seems to exist between nostalgia and grief associated to loss, but I can personally correlate the mix of these feelings with certain memories.
I'm not very familiar with this term reward hacking, but it makes me think of social/behavioral engineering/modification.

The more I learn about AI, and "intelligence" in general, the better I understand human behavior.
Is it possible to perceive quantum level artificial intelligence with human senses?
Has AI already passed general human level intelligence?
Would we even know if it has?

In this dream, every wish became reality. The other nine were happy and fulfilled.
I know that when you become conscious of your wish, you will realize that every new wish has an unknown destination. What a great dream it would be.
I realize that I never dreamed of a child who had a magical childhood and had to learn their own ways so that they can be fulfilled in a better world if all they want is to be found in this world.
I realize that the people and institutions we are ultimately governed by, along with our families, and in the corporations that serve them, can erase the lives of many. I realize that many people have great dreams and many failures, but they are there because of me. And so much of this is because of my own ambition to live fully as a child wherever I can, whether it be my parents who live with me or my own children from day one.
It is these ideals that make my life so special, that it leads me to try to make a better world.
So for now, here is what I want you to look forward to today and what I hope you will look forward to today.
I believe in a way I believe in, and I stand by every one of you, and that is that you stand together with me to make it possible for us all again.
It is our hope that you are able to reach out to us.
