ACHIEVEMENT 2 BASIC SECURITY ON STEEM
Hello great minds, today I would be doing my achievement 2. Thanks to @n-chris, @cryptokannon for helping me out on this.
Purpose: the aim of this lesson is to understand the various keys,their uses and how to protect them.
I would answer each question as best as I can.
Question 1
Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
Yes I have retrieved all my keys. I was asked to download a PDF file containing all my keys which I did and I also endured it was saved.
Question2
Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?
Yes I do. These keys are:
Master key: as the name implies,it is a key designed to open serveral locks. Master key is to be protected because when someone else have access to it, the person has automatic access to your account. Master key is not to be shared for any reason.
Posting key : these key is used to login our accounts and carry out various activities like posting,upvote,reesteem, comment, follow,mute,comment e.t.c on our account.
Active key: this is a key meant for sensitive activities. Those activities may include transfer of funds, converting steem dollars, upvote e.t.c. this key is meant to be protected and used for the activities allocated to it.
Owner key: this key is used to recover a stolen/hacked account. Also, it can be used to change other keys. The owner key should be stored in a book or somewhere safe just in case of emergency.
Memo key: this key is used to conceal or reveal memo when transfeing funds.
Question 3
How do you plan to keep your master password?
I plan on keeping my master key by saving it on a secured platform and also never to use or reveal it to anyone.
Question 4
Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
Yes. I will login to my account using my active key then I would click on wallet as shown below.
When my wallet opens,I would go to steem dollars, then click transfer
Next I would input my desired account and amount then click next
A confirmation page will come up.this page helps you to confirm your information.
(In the mo box, I can writey desired message or description to the receiver)
After I have confirmed my details I click ok.
Question 5
Do you know how to power up your STEEM
Yes . Still on my wallet I go to steem then click power up.
I click on power up then I input my desired amount then click on the power up button as shown below
