Hi fellow steemians.

What is plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the act of copying verbatim someone's idea, write up or work , as your own work without proper reference to the ower(original author) or acknowledgement.

This plagiarism can be done intentionally or unintentionally. Not known to many people, plagiarism covers a lot of activities other than mare coying of some one's work, this acts include:

*taking someone work without credit

*Giving wrong information about quotation source

*Copying so many words that made up your write up, wether cited or not.

Once 70% of your work is not from you, you have plagiarised.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

basically there are four types of plagiarism , they are;

1. Direct plagarism

Direct plagarism is direct copying of someone's work word to word without crediting it to the originator and without question mark.

2.Self plagarism

Self plegarism is comited when one engages and submmits a work which he or she is not permitted to do or submit.

3.Mosaic plegarism.

Mosaic plagiarism is done when one uses a phrase from particular source without using quotation mark and without finding words nearest in meaning for the phrases(having the same meaning and structure with the originator's work).

4. Accidental plegarism

As the name goes, accidental

This happens when a writer forgets to introduce quotation mark, citation and referencing the originator of the work in his or her work.

It is always done unintentionally.

WAYS TO AVOID PLAGIARISM

Here am going to unleash 5 primary ways to avoid plegarism. Are they are;

1. Always cite your source.

When using an idea or wording that is not yours , make sure it is cited in the writing that will show the full name of the source, date and any other element of citation.

2. Always put quotation

This is where quotation mark is employed, use quotation mark to show that the quoted text are not yours.

3. Paraphrasing

This is rearranging the structure of a source or original information into your own structure, without deviating from the original meaning. Paraphrasing requires carefulness because if not done properly will turn to PLAGIARISM.

4. Try present your own word or idea

Plagiarism is copying someone's work without citing ,so writing your own idea or work without copying is a very vital way to avoid the issues of citing , referencing , quotation marks and soon on.

5.Use plagiarism checker

This is an app that helps to check the %plagarism on your work after writing.this checker helps to scan and capture the issues before submitting a particular work

DISADVANTAGES OF PLAGIARISM

* It reduces the reputation of any one involved in it.

* Invariably, it is an act of stealing someone's material without his/her consent

* It calls for punishment

* It cause laziness of one's brain ( because one doesn't want to creat his own idea)

Conclusion

From the research on plegarism that I have made so far , I have learned that Plagiarism is not just done by copying without referencing but if your work has almost 70% of already existing works that is not yours ,it is plagiarism wether cited or not.

Secondly the use of quotation marks , acknowledgement and referencing are ways to avoid plegarism but to avoid accidental plegarism as mentioned above, we should always try and put our own ideas into work .

With this I am encouraging us to avoid plagiarism, it is not good in our work.
