Assalamualaikum Everyone. I hope all of you are doing well.

Today I am going to share my achievement 3 task which is about "Content Etiquette"

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is copying and using someone else's work without their permission & without giving them any credit. It can be anything like text, images, videos etc.

Types of Plagiarism

The five most common types of plagiarism are:

1. Global plagiarism:

"claiming an entire text by someone else as your own." ^Source

2. Verbatim plagiarism:

This form of plagiarism is also known as direct plagiarism. It's copying someone else’s work and using it as it is, without quotation marks and a citation. Source

3. Paraphrasing plagiarism:

Taking someone's ideas and explaining it in your own words and showing it as your own work and not giving the credit to original author is called paraphrasing plagiarism. Source

4. Patchwork plagiarism:

Taking different pieces of information from different sites and then combining them to form new content as it's your own is patchwork plagiarism. Source

5. Self-plagiarism:

Again submitting your past work without informing or giving proper citation is called self plagiarism. Source

We can protect ourselves from plagiarism by following proper citation rules:

1. Use quotation marks for copy pasted content and also mention source from where the content was taken ( just like I did in global plagiarism definition)

2. For any paraphrasing content it's also necessary to mention source link ( just like I did in from verbatim plagiarism to self plagiarism)

3. For any image that we use and if it's not ours we should mention source just like I did. We can also take photos from these sites because they are free to use like pexels.com , unsplash.com , shutterstock.com .

By following all these rules we show that we are real and professional people who respect other's work and give credit. On steemit platform it is also necessary to follow these rules to strengthen our credibility which is the key to success. By neglecting these rules we can get down votes and even lose our account.

Thank you Ma'am @cryptokannon for giving this task. It helped me to understand about plagiarism very well and I will do my best to follow all these rule to avoid plagiarism.
