Achievement 2 by @lewas-write. Task: Basic Security on Steemit

When I first registered,this was the first thing my mentor '@ceendy20' asked me to do. After making some studies on the basic security on steemit I found out that if I loose my password/owner key,I won't be able to recover my account. And if a second party gets a hold of my private active key,they could withdraw funds from my wallet.

My understanding of the importance of these keys has made me take measures in protecting them.

MEASURES TAKEN TO PROTECT MY KEYS

• Having an offline copy of all my keys.
• Storing the PDF format of my key on my Google drive.
• Saving it as draft on my email account.
• Having a copy of I safely stored in an external disk .

FUNCTIONS OF THE VARIOUS KEYS

POSTING KEY: This key is what enables the user to make posts with his/her account. Other functions of this key includes:

• Enabling the user to edit,vote, comment,resteem,mute and follow other accounts.
• Logging into steemit everyday.

ACTIVE KEY : This Key's use is very sensitive and should be kept very safe. It is used for monetary transactions like transferring funds and making market orders,it is also used for powering up/down,voting for witnesses, converting steem dollar to steem and vice versa, updating profile details and avatar.

PRIVATE OWNER KEY: The owner key should definitely be stored offline because it's mainly used to recover accounts that have been compromised. It can change any key of an account including itself. It is known as the most powerful key.

MEMO KEY : This key is useful when there's need to encrypt or decrypt memos when one is about to transfer funds.

KEEPING MY MASTER PASSWORD

The master password has the ability to derive all keys including the owner key. If it is accessed externally it can lead to your account and it's tokens being stolen.
It is best to keep this key very safe. I've kept mine in my Google drive where only I can access.

HOW TO TRANSFER STEEM TOKEN TO ANOTHER STEEM USER ACCOUNT

I'm going to be explaining this one in steps and with screenshots on how to carry it out

• Log into your steemit wallet.

• Click on log in

• Fill in your username and your active key respectively,and then click on log in

• After login into your wallet it becomes active. Click on steem

• A drop box will appear,then click on transfer.

• Fill in the account you're transferring to,the amount of steem you wish to transfer,and then if it's a steemit account you use the username as the memo,then click on next.

• A summary of your transaction will be brought in front of you for confirming. Click ok after confirming,and you're done.

POWERING UP MY STEEM

• After logging into my wallet , I'll click on steem,a drop box will appear,but instead of clicking on transfer,this time around I'll click on power up.

• After filling in the amount of steem you wish to power up,you click on power up

• A confirmation of transaction will appear. After confirming,you click on ok,and then you're done.
