ACHIEVEMENT 2: @micharaph TASK: BASIC SECURITY ON STEEM
It is very important for me and my new colleagues here in steemit to know the need of understanding the uses and value of the various/different keys.
HAVE YOU RETRIEVED ALL YOUR KEYS ON STEEMIT?
I have retrieved all my keys on steemit. I have my master password, owner key, active key, posting key and memo key.
I know that my master password can be used to generate any of the 4 keys.
I shouldn’t share any of my keys with any third party site or person
DO YOU KNOW EACH OF THE KEYS’ FUNCTIONS AND RESTRICTIONS?
ACTIVE KEY: This key is used for voting, updating my profile details, placing an order, converting steem dollar, power ups, transfers and so many others.
POSTING KEY: Is used for logging in, posting, comment, edit posts, vote for people, follow communities and people, resteem posts and mute people’s account
OWNER KEY is the most powerful key because it can also change any key of an account
MEMO KEY: is used to encrypt or decrypt memo while transferring funds. In order to encrypt a memo, #sign is used before the memo
I know that there is no way I can recover my account if I loose my password or owner key.
HOW DO YOU PLAN TO KEEP YOUR PASSWORD SAFE?
storing an offline copy of all my keys somewhere safe in case of hard disk failure or other problems:
I will store my keys in a flash drive,
I will also store it in an external hard drive
And also I will store it in my goggle drive
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO TRANSFER YOUR STEEM TOKEN TO ANOTHER STEEM USER?
I know how to transfer my steem token to another steem user. Active key is used in the transfer. I got some tutorials from @focusnow on how to go about the transfer and I learnt much from it. All thanks and credit to @focusnow.
DO YOU KNOW HOW TO POWER UP YOUR STEEM?
ACTIVE KEY: Is also used to power up my steem. I followed the tutorials on “understanding your steem wallet and power up” by @kiwiscanfly.
