Achievement 3 Post By @prof2 : Content Etiquette And Plagiarism
Hello steemains, I'm happy to be here to make my achievement 3. Achievement 3 is all about content etiquette. I will be telling you about plagiarism, how to avoid plagiarism and citation. Special greetings go to @juichi and @wilmer1988 for their conscious effort towards my verifications. I am done with the correction.
PLAGIARISM
plagiarism occurs when one copies another person's ideas, text or creative work, and presents it as his or her own, especially without permission.
These are some instances of plagiarism:
Copy and paste a text from books or the internet into the body of an assignment.
Quoting a source without including a citation.
Not paraphrasing a source properly, that is maintaining wording too close to the original.
Taking texts from many sources and putting them together, and turning the work to your own.
Types of Plagiarism
1 . Direct plagiarism
2 . Self plagiarism
3 . Complete plagiarism
4 . Accidental plagiarism
Direct plagiarism
Direct plagiarism: this is copying someone's work word-for-word without attribution or quotation mark.
Self plagiarism
Self plagiarism: this occurs when someone post his or her own work which has been posted already without reference
Complete plagiarism
Complete plagiarism: is when someone copied entire work of someone's content without citing references
Accidental plagiarism
Accidental plagiarism: Accidental plagiarism occurs when someone unintentionally posts his or her content which is similar to someone's content without reference.
Citation
Citation is an entry in a list of source(s) from which one took information, words or literary or verbal context. In other words is the way of telling the reader that certain materials in your work came from another source . It gives the reader the information necessary to find the location details of that source on the reference Cited. Example
Illness which results from eating of food or drinking of contaminated beverages affects about 1 in 6 people in the United States of America in each year. Everyone can fall victim to food poisoning but infants, young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems or chronic illness are at the highest risk

HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
Make your own content by using your own words
By using a plagiarism checker to check your work if you have not plagiarized other people's work inadvertently.
Give proper reference to all content that does not belong to us .
It is my hope that we team up to fight against plagiarism. Plagiarism is never good , let's end it.
I have read and understood the etiquette on steemit community and I will do my best to adhere to them
