In this article, I will tell you about the grain products planted in Turkey.
As you know, grains are important food sources for us. We all consume bread every day. We are not satisfied without bread. The raw material of bread is wheat, which is a grain. For us, grains are regarded as blessings and sustenance. Therefore, it should not be wasted. Every year, grains worth of money to be used in the construction of dozens of schools are wasted. Using it without wasting is more beneficial for everyone.

If we look at the cereal varieties planted in Turkey, these are;

• Wheat
• Barley
• Rice
• Oat

Cereals are fringe-rooted plants. Fringed rooted plants feed on Nitrogen in the soil. In general, since the mountains in Turkey extend parallel to the coast, although we are surrounded by the seas, due to this parallelism, the marine effect, namely the warm climate, cannot be brought into the interior. Therefore, continental climate appears in the interior. The products we call cereals are widely grown in continental climates because they require summer drought. Wheat is not grown in the Black Sea Region in Turkey because the summers are not dry. Since the Eastern Anatolia Region is a high region, its climate is cold. Therefore, because the grain called wheat in this very cold region does not have much resistance to extreme cold, barley, which can grow even in extreme cold, takes the place of wheat grain in the Eastern Anatolia Region. Let's take a closer look at the characteristics of these plants.

It is a raw material for the alcoholic beverage industry. It is also used as animal feed. Since it is resistant to cold, it is preferred to be planted in the Eastern Anatolia region.

Rice

It grows in wetlands. Its production is under state control as it rains malaria. Production areas were established far from residential units. It is produced in swampy areas along rivers. Most rice is produced along the Meriç river. It is produced in Kastamonu Tosya, Balıkesir Gönen, Çorum Osmancık and Samsun Terme regions. These regions also provide production along the river.

Oat

It is a protein-rich grain. It is a raw material for the bakery products industry. It is an agricultural product frequently consumed by athletes.
