Hi fellow steemians, I believe you are all doing great. This is a simplified post on markdowns and how they are/can be used to format words or texts.

MARKDOWN APPLICATON
Markdown is basically a text or word formatting syntax used by professional writers/steemians to arrange or align their works to attract the mind of their readers. It is a very essential tool that I recommend for anyone reading this post. Below are some of the markdowns accompanied with their respective codes you should acquaint yourself to;

SUBSCRIPT AND SUPERSCRIPT

You probably might have seen a lot of this in your math, English, or science classes where you were asked to write a number, let’s say 3, raised to the power X or the molecular formula for water. Follow the codes below to successfully execute your preferred markdown method.

SUPERSCRIPT

QUOTE

This particular markdown can only be used if you are directly quoting a phrase from the internet or someone's work. For instance, taking the definition of steemit from Wikipedia thus;

Steemit is a blockchain-based blogging and social media website, which rewards its users with the cryptocurrency STEEM for publishing and curating content, and is owned by Steemit Inc., a privately held company based in New York City and a headquarters in Virginia.

The code used above is a greater than sign (>) followed by the copied phrase.

BOLD/STRIKETHROUGH

As their names imply, they are used to Bolden or strikethrough texts or words. Their respective codes are as shown below.

BOLD TEXT

STRIKETHROUGH

ITALIC

Italics are slanted/cursive styled fonts mostly used to emphasizes major point in a printed/quoted texts.

HEADERS

Headers are used to adjust the font size of texts to capture the minds of readers and it ranges from 1-6 in decreasing order of size.

Screenshot (287).png

Header 1 is the Biggest Text among all and Header 6 is the smallest. The number of hash or pound sign determines the size of the header text as shown above.

TABLES

Sometimes it’s very necessary to use tables to differentiate between two or more items. Let's assume you were asked to present the difference between steemit and Facebook.

Steemitfacebook
Steemit rewards its users weekly, based on their postsFacebook does otherwise
No advertisements allowedFull of advertisements
Steemit is decentralizedCentralized

The code used for the table above is as shown below

TEXT/PICTURE ALIGNMENT

It is used to align pictures or texts either to the left, right or center depending on your choice of position using the code.

FOR TEXTS

FOR IMAGES

With the center alignment, it’s not really necessary to write a whole bunch of codes to execute that command, all you need to do is to enter the below code and you are good to go.

Thank you very much for taking your time to read through my post, I hope you enjoyed and also learned something new from it.
