Making Music For Free Using Technology
Happy Saturday, Steemers!
Using Technology to Make Music for Free
I am a fan of many various music genres. I am also at least a good bit on the cheap side. In other words, I like free stuff. So when I learned a few months ago that I could make music for free, the bulb in my head when off and it was love at first sight.
Gateway Drug
So my gateway drug into the realm of free music making, or the more hip way of saying it, music production, was LMMS. LMMS is a free, open source, digital audio workstation, or more commonly DAW. You can learn more here at
While learning about LMMS from YouTube tutorials, I quickly saw that so many people were using FL Studio. I decided to check it out at
https://www.image-line.com/flstudio/
The cool thing is while it is a pay version, one can use it for free as long as you like to try it out. You can use the instruments for free and can save mp3's of your song. The only limitation is you cannot save your work in the free version. Yet you can work on your song until your computer needs to reset. I ended up buying my version because I enjoyed it so much! The best part is the free lifetime updates!
Free Instruments
Spitfire Audio makes some tremendously outstanding products. Some they give away for free. In fact every month they have a new free offering called LABS! you can find out more at
https://www.spitfireaudio.com/labs/
Never a Better Time
Here I cover a lot of free instruments. I am sure there has never been a better time to make music in a free and easy manner. Jump on in, the water is fine!

FL Studio rocks!
Lifetime free updates and endless possibilities.
Even a video plugin is inside.
But it may take some studying before you get the most out of it ;)
Very true, plus a lot of RAM helps too :)
Indeed!
I bought a 2nd hand I7 with 32GB ... that makes it fun even if you have a lot of plugins in use.
