my experience (with Jackfruit) is that, for a long time I couldn't believe it was fruit!
it tasted very much like meat, (although I remember the taste of meat like through the fog, because I haven't eaten such things for years 😏)
for me - as in the recipe, spices (mainly smoked paprika and BBQ sauce) do the work :)
