I don't tend to watch talent shows, partly because some of them go too heavy on emotional back stories. Some of the competitors I do hear are very generic and go for vocal gymnastics rather than real emotion. Loads of successful singers would get nowhere on such shows.
But then I ought to be supporting up and coming artists. There's an issue that people will expect instant success. There's something to be said for learning your craft playing tiny gigs to 3 people. I was watching the Netflix documentary on ZZ Top. At an early gigs there was an audience of one!
I struggle to find them on Netflix, I watched one a week ago or so but there doesn't appear to be any filter for music content.
If you can find one then others should show up in the similar list. I've watched enough that they get suggested to me and there is a category for them if you can find it. This one is good, but I've not watched it all yet. Got a few more on my list to watch.
