It’s the year 2021 and the world is still recovering from the effects of Covid-19, things have changed from how we move, to how we celebrate our favorite holidays and to how we interact with others. It’s been such a crazy time in our generation.
While other countries are supporting their citizens with palliatives and incentives, my country Nigeria didn’t support its citizens in anyway instead, we saw a rise in the price of transportation, goods and services and most importantly increase in electricity tariffs and gasoline prices.
Being a single person is hard enough but a family who needs to provide housing, food, education and basic amenities for its children is even more harder.

There are over 250 ethnic groups and languages in Nigeria but, the three major ones are Igbo in the East, Yoruba in the West and Hausa in the Northern.
Individually, these ethnic groups have different cultures, languages and a way of life.
I am from the Southern part of Nigeria. A place called Port Harcourt. Blessed with so much Crude oil, Rivers and large mass of land.

Port harcourt is a mix of different people all over Nigeria seeking employment in oil production companies, enterprises and people just looking for greener pastures.
Just like every other city in Nigeria, Port Harcourt is still developing hence the cost of living is on the high side as the means of exchange in Nigeria ( Naira #)has fallen consistently to Dollars $
1$= #480

The cost of renting a 1 bedroom apartment in 2021 is about #400,000 which is equivalent to $833
Utility Bills hangs around 23$ every month which is another #11,000
And the cost of feeding is also expensive as the prices of goods and services are not coordinated and are on the high side.
Providing for the whole household can cost as much as $208 which is approximately #98,000
All these doesn’t include children’s school fees and clothings

From these things and estimates mentioned, it is important to note that life is very hard for the average persons in Nigeria and even harder for the poor and less privilege as most of them live below 1$.
I hope for better leadership for my beautiful Country who really cares about everyone especially the poor.
