WHAT I WATCH INSPIRES ME (REPORT)

When we talk about inspirational movies, the one that comes to my mind is a movie called GIRL'S TRIP.

It is about a group of girls who have been friends throughout college but when real life came calling after graduation, they drifted apart. The girls are Lisa (Jada Pinkett Smith), Ryan (Regina Hall), Shasha (Queen Latifah) and Dina (Tiffany Harddish).

Ryan is the successful friend who got married to her highschool sweetheart. Their lives seem so perfect and it looks like they found their happily ever after which we come to see, isn't happy after all. In the movie, she is also a renowed arthour of the book, "YOU CAN HAVE IT ALL". A lot of women look up to her and admire but they don't know the reality of her life...and the reality is, she doesn't have it all.

When the girls go for their trip, alot of past hurts and wrongs resurface. Even the ugly truth about Ryan's marriage comes crollimg out.

The most inspiring part of the movie for me is at the end when Ryan gives a speech. It was so empowering.

RYAN'S SPEECH
She finds out that her husband cheated on her and got another woman pregnant. They have a brand together so she wants to protect that brand. In her speech, she starts by reading part of the speech that her agent wrote for her. In this speech, she says that her marriage is strong and denies the rumours going around about her husband. That is when her girls arrive and when she sees them, she cannot bring herself to continue the false speech. Instead she decides to speak out her heart.

In her words, she says that when she found out that her husband was cheating, she was scared that her marriage was ending and she would be alone, and being alone terrified her. It terrified her so much that she was willing to stay with someone that had betrayed her trust. She was so scared that she was willing to be treated less than she deserves.

She says, DONT BE SCARED OF BEING ALONE BECAUSE THERE IS POWER IN REDISCOVERING YOUR OWN VOICE.

She also says, "No one has the power to take away your dreams unless you give it to them and I refuse to ever give that power to anyone again"

That speech spoke to me in volumes. I remember dropping a tear or two.🤣
Girl's trip is a movie about friendship and self discovery...I would definitely recommend it.
