RE: When I grow up, i will be............ Whatever happened to those kid visions!
I love this topic! I literally had this conversation 10 minutes ago with my partner about what we think our own children will be when they grow up - synchronicity is wonderful 🌱
In my first grade class at school, each student got to complete an "About Me" chart on their birthday, and it hung up in the classroom for the whole week. When asked, I said that I wanted to be a veterinarian when I grew up. I loved animals, had a helping heart, and thought I could bring comfort and healing to those who needed it. Then, I fainted at the sight of my own blood. My family convinced me that I wouldn't be able to handle the blood in the veterinary office, and I should probably give up my dream. So I did.
Looking back, I still possess all of the qualities that would have made me a good veterinarian. And I now realize that there could have been many, many reasons that I fainted after getting a blood draw as a young child that day - reasons that could have been managed or even might have disappeared with age. I deferred my decision to my parents, which is a normal thing for a child to do, but I wonder what would have been if they encouraged my passion in spite of the obstetrical instead. I ponder this in light of the awesome responsibility I now have to guide and encourage my own children.
Interesting story about your childhood. I think you and all of us can learn from that experience to teach our kids how to overcome initial shock or challenges to achieving their goals. How things might have turned out for you if you had that assistance. But then, we do not want to look back with regrets. Rather, look forward to better things ahead. Thanks @bia.birch, how is the family doing?
We are all healthy and happy @focusnow, thank you for asking 🌱 How did your business transition go? Still in progress or have you settled in? You were on my mind.
I will pack into my new office accomodation during first week of March. Happy to know your family is doing good
Wonderful! Sending good vibes for a smooth transition 🌱
