project community coin
I have heard of one municipality issue small bits of scrap lumber (because they had a local saw mill)
I have heard that certain Native Amercian tribes have used sea shells
It really does not matter what is used, the point is the non-federal 'federal reserve bank' is issuing new money like it is going out of style. Every time more money is printed and new goods are not added to the economy then all of the money looses value. (Its just an inverse ratio. Its like a video game 'the dificult games have greater value') In the graphic bellow, a person can see that much of the food that we eat has to travel great distances before it arrives on our plates.
Basicly that means that if you live in New York City and buy produce that was shipped from Denver Colorado, the produce might have originally cost $1.00 to grow but by the time all of the shipping and handeling gets paid then you might end up paying $7.00-$8.00.(https://worldfreightrates.com/freight) According to me the solution is pretty simple...'start producing more items locally'
Local food is food that is produced within a short distance of where it is consumed, often accompanied by a social structure and supply chain different from the large-scale supermarket.
Solving the coming food crisis requires a person to jump over two hurdles. The first hurdle is that local gardeners need to start producing more food. The second hurdle is that a guild/organization needs to be formed that is dedicated to buying local produce. In this article I am going to tackle the second hurdle because it is most likely the more challenging of the two issues.
Make a list of the business in your area that will use the community coin. For example we will talk about a restaurant called 'Foodies'. On the cost of produce alone, Foodies spends $2,000 on produce per month. Meanwhile there are people that live near Foodies restaurant that are food insecure and looking for a small part time job. Foodies restaurant would probably jump at the chance to continue to offer (say) a plate of french fries to its customers. Under the old financial system a plate of french fries cost $3.00, but under the new financial system Foodies restaurant is able to purchase local sourced goods with the community coins/local currency and offer a community coin to area producers. Basicly Foodies resturant is offering a discount to all of the people that trade with the store.
Remember how some stores used to give a free small treat.
Instead of just randomly giving small amounts of goods and or services away, why not only award people if they provide Foodies restaurant with items that can be sold. (Foodies was going to give shipping companies money to transport produce for them, so why would the restaurant not buy local goods that will be much cheaper.
Basicly instead of spending $1,000 usd (United States Dollars) for produce, why not give $400 worth of product away to people that can provide the restaurant with $1,500 worth of food.
If all 5 restaurants in a town get together and form a guild (https://www.britannica.com/topic/guild-trade-association) that says instead of giving strangers high amounts of dollars so that they will send us produce we will use our 'usd' to buy things like lobster, seafood, and salt... but we will us the comunity coin to purchace local items.
