Security risks in teleworking
Hello Friends of Project HOPE, today I want to share information related to something that I think is important to us all, to me in particular it is more than important, because I basically work from home, so my economy is based on *teleworking * Therefore, having a high and constant exposure to the internet, I cannot ignore the risks of this, which is why I would like to share my ideas regarding security risks associated with teleworking.
It is no secret that teleworking has experienced significant growth in recent years, especially with the COVID-19 pandemic that forced many companies to adopt this work model. And those of us who worked independently made us turn our interests more and more to this type of work.
In my opinion, one of the main security risks associated with teleworking is the vulnerability of home networks, those networks that we use to connect our devices through WiFi, fiber optics and other forms of connection. These networks generally do not have robust security measures, making them more susceptible to cyberattacks. Hackers can take advantage of this to access sensitive information or infect devices with malware.
That is why we must be very careful in this regard with the pages we enter, because with the slightest carelessness we could compromise not only our work but also important personal data and be exposed.
Another important risk is the use of personal devices for work. This applies to these people who work for a company and use their own devices, and not one that the company has given for that purpose. The computers we use at home usually do not have extreme security measures, even though we should have good systems, because we are talking about our personal data.
Pienso que para poder mitigar estos riesgos, es importante que las empresas o nosotros mismos implementemos medidas de seguridad adecuadas para el teletrabajo. Esto puede incluir el uso de redes privadas virtuales (VPN) para proteger la conexión a Internet, el uso de software de seguridad en todos los dispositivos, y además educarnos sobre prácticas seguras en línea, en youtube incluso hay muy buenos cursos.
Hay cosas muy básicas que podemos -y debemos- hacer, comoutilizar contraseñas seguras, mantener el software actualizado y ser conscientes de los posibles ataques de phishing. Esto último es un verdero problema al que estamos muy expuestos. Para despedirme debo decir que si bien es cierto que trabajar desde casa tiene grandes beneficios, la realidad es que no está libre de riesgos.
Security risk is a very vital one we must put into consideration because it will really goes a long way in determining what we will usually tend up to achieve. A lot of people data needs to be secured
