Distraction or Opportunity?

We observe a lot of things on a day-to-day basis, some catch our attention and some don't. The ones which catch our attention, either turn out to be something valuable or in some cases causes distraction.

If we judge it on the basis of time, if time was wasted, it was a distraction and if it was utilised, it was an opportunity. But in both cases, whether distraction or opportunity, we have to spend time to figure it out, without spending time we cannot come to any conclusion.

So till the time we haven't come to any conclusion, we will not be able to decide whether the time was wasted or utilised? It is only when we find the outcome as positive or negative, we see it as an opportunity or distraction?

We have to go through the process, there is no shortcut to arrive at the conclusion without spending time on it.
Can we decide in advance whether the forthcoming situation would end up as a distraction or opportunity?

If we are not pursuing things which we want to, fearing that time would be wasted, we are in another way avoiding opportunities too.

There is no heads or tails if you are not flipping the coin in the first place.

If you want to do it, give it a try.

What seems like an opportunity today, can be of no use tomorrow and vice-a-versa, so let's enjoy the process. Let's not be so harsh on ourselves, learn whatever we want to. Overthinking about the outcome may stop us from initiating.

The question to ponder:

If everything teaches us something, how can be something a "waste" of time?

If you say that time could have been utilised more efficiently we must understand that there is no definition of more or less, something which is more to you can less to others.

Hello @knowledgefruit.

In particular I worry more about what I like and what catches my attention, life is only one and we have to live it based on what we like, and then if what caught my attention turned out to be something profitable or a distraction and depends on the circumstances, however generally I usually look a lot of things that give me welfare and that are profitable.

Greetings and thank you for sharing this important philosophy.

Hello @knowledgefruit!
Certainly until we live the experience we will not know if we wasted our time or if it is a good opportunity, it is not good to think so much about the results because sometimes the mind can play against us and we do not dare. The extremes are not good, neither thinking too much or not thinking even for a minute what a certain situation can bring us. Good reflection. Greetings!

Initiate, before the mind takes over it.

Overthinking will not solve anything and we must make use of any opportunities because it might not be there again next time

Yes. Overthinking kills opportunities.

Hello friend, a good reflection, but as you say we must experience it to know what we expose ourselves to, if it is a waste of time or an opportunity, although it may be that nothing is a waste of time unless we are not doing what we really want, everything leaves us a lesson, it is better to see it that way. Greetings!

Continuing and repeating something even after realizing it is a distraction is futile. But it will only come when it has been experienced at least once.

It is true that we cannot easily discern between what seem to be a distraction or an opportunity until we spend time on it.
