RE: Ihr seid mir alle zu krass

Hello Juan,

thank you for your kind answer. I am German and I have been living in Paraguay for several years. My knowledge of Spanish is sufficient for conversations, but in written form I get along better in English or my mother tongue German.

I don't live in a noble quarter, but among the normal population. The pandemic has hit many people here very hard and they live from day to day. You could do so many things with the smallest amounts of money.

Just a small example: one of my neighbours has some fruit trees and he has always produced jam. But at the moment he lacks the money for the sugar he needs. I myself am also very hard hit and live here at the limit, otherwise I would do much more if I could. Paraguayans, like all South Americans, have a great pride and I don't want to be seen as a "noble donor". But I can offer fair purchase or exchange offers. If I get some jam in exchange for the sugar, I can distribute this jam in the neighbourhood for the children. So nobody has to have a guilty conscience or feels like a petitioner.

There would be many such little things here to help people make a new start. You yourself live in Venezuela and can certainly judge very well how much you could move with small amounts. Donating money to big organisations is counterproductive, because only a small part of the money gets to where it is needed. So somehow I try to do something in my immediate neighbourhood.

Many greetings from Paraguay to Venezuela.

The pandemic has hit us all hard. Definitely our previous lifestyle will remain in our memories.

This dynamic of bartering that exists in your community is very practical as a solution to small daily situations.
The idea you have of helping others is adorable.

Now, if your project consists of requesting financial aid (Donations) you will probably not have much success, I tell you this because I have seen many initiatives of this style, which have failed or have achieved very little success.

Initially, you should worry about creating commitment with some people, also try to show a visual record of the current situation of the people you intend to help, you must give reliable evidence to generate confidence in your future sponsors.
