WhatsApp launched Crypto Payment feature in US
Crypto is a growing space and even though when the market is not doing well then also we can see a lot of good news around. Today the bigger good news is that WhatsApp has started its crypto payment feature for selected users in the US on a pilot basis. WhatsApp is a well-known name for most of us and we use it every day and even I use it. Whatsapp is part of Meta (earlier known as Facebook) and its the leading social instant messaging platform. We have it available for any platform including android, iOS, and PC.
Whatsapp also provides payment transfer service in India using UPI and UPI is an instant payment transfer service. These days such platforms are not limiting themselves to the core services instead they are adding some payment features so that people can make the app their part of life for daily things. There are many examples and even truecaller has done the same which shows that innovation is needed to keep the users engaged and associated for the long term.
The messaging service WhatsApp said this week it is piloting a new feature that allows U.S. users to send money without paying fees, using cryptocurrency. The new payment service marks yet another example of how digital currencies are becoming more accepted in the mainstream U.S. financial scene.
This new feature is available for select users only in the US but we can expect that this will be available for more users once its testing is done and its scalable. Whenever any big company joins crypto then for sure it will add more value to crypto for sure. The right innovation makes a significant contribution to the growth and I believe this can be a great one. Whatsapp has integrated with Novi which is a wallet recently launched by meta. Whatsapp has got over 2 billion active users across the world and even it is the most used instant messaging application.
We use crypto mostly for investment purposes through trade or stake but this way it seems our approach will change. Let's see if the hive is integrated as a payment option and we get the option to pay in the hive to anyone using WhatsApp then its going to be great. Since we have no transaction fee with hive tokens so it will be easy an faster way to send and receive money in crypto. This will also make crypto our part of life that we can use to pay for goods and services which as of now is not easy.
Currently, if we want to send crypto then we have to use the exchnage or decentralized wallet but getting it integrated with the messaging app will make it easy to use. In India, UPI is an easy-to-use payment method that anyone can set up within a minute and can use without having much technical knowledge. I wish the same can be possible with crypto as well and seems like WhatsApp has realized the crypto potential and the need of people. Whatsapp is known for making innovation and easy-to-use UI so I believe the same would be followed with this new service as well.

No doubt that the fact that a big company like Whatsapp starts to make use of cryptocurrencies will allow the massification to come faster, and finally it is something we all want.
But, let's wait to see what ends up happening, and let's hope it will be for the best, because we know that centralization is not good in the crypto environment.

No doubt in the nearest future as time goes by, more crypto people will accept crypto and then it will be widely acceptable. Crypto is definitely the future
Hello @reeta0119, This is really great news because this would facilitate cryptocurrency transactions and could even be a little more secure than common wallets because it would be linked to the user's phone number. Here in Venezuela we have a version called mobile payment for payments in fiat money that is made with messages or with an app, I think it could be something similar with WhatsApp.

I really agree with the idea of whatsaap dares to launch this new feature, I think in the future it will be easier to transact crypto. but some user concerns must also be considered, especially about security. the big question is about security and privacy. and also related to hacking by other parties.
