The Reward for Diligence is More Responsibilities
He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much. -

One would have logically thought that hard work or diligence should be rewarded with long rest and probably goodies to make the rest more pleasant, but as much as diligence is rewarding, it comes with greater and more responsibilities. Although one might be privileged to enjoy a vacation after a session of continuous labour, each successive breakthrough creates opportunities for more responsibilities.
Hard work speaks much about your level of responsibility and your attitude to work. When a man is observed to be hard working, he becomes a useful resource for the organization or venture he works with, and is given even higher responsibilities because there is a brighter chance of him delivering on that higher assignment than for someone who is not so committed to work, or someone who has not even been tried with simpler tasks.

An business person who is not able to properly account for a ten-thousand-dollar investment will not be given another worth up to a hundred thousand by any rational investor. HIs inability to manage ten thousand dollars means he will likely commit even greater blunders with more money.

Standing before kings is not showmanship or an invitation to wine and dine, or an award show, but a call to higher responsibilities, and of course, more influence. Consider an entrepreneur who delivers on his jobs promptly, and according to specification. Such a person will get more recommendations (more work), and of course he will become more relevant in his sphere of influence.
The reward for diligence and hard work is more responsibilities, and this automatically translates to more income and more influence.

More often, we like to lie to ourselves that the reward of diligence is rest, but looking at it logically, the result of diligence is definitely more responsibility even if more financial reward may be an addition. one would have to be extra intentional to get the desired rest if it is going to happen at all.
