The veteran. I'll never forget his smile at just hi.

I don't post here expecting to make a minute tokens or one. It is what it is.

I do post here to reflect and ponder. Interact and engage.

This is an amazing experiment. And radically successful.

Through the storm we have rose not fallen like so many of these other tokens.

Well today I can't help but remember that veterans smile. At me knowing the fence and respecting it. The knowledge that someone respected and acknowledged his life. Transformed his face. Lit up his face. A secret conversation in only a few words in passing.

Others went over and tried to have conversations. Which never ended well or allowed anyone close.

When he first showed up I handed him the handwarmer I had going. The package had another one that wasn't opened. The good 2 pack. I was going to head to the van and had a great fire set and tons of wood. He definitely needed and appreciated the help.

Knowing and thinking I can see what he had written. One last party. Freedom. Privacy even though he was infront of the city. But no one he knew would see him this way. Or his exit. Some dignity remaining from someone proud.

What did he do... His life? Where was he from.and the family there?

Well all of those are written and so is his passing.

I'd hope that people show up for his service. His family and loved ones.

Questions.... For all those around. And the one that can answer doesn't suffer.
