Monument to Nikolai Gumilyov
I walked in the courtyards of St. Petersburg Pedagogical University on a warm summer evening last year. The University occupies a vast territory between Nevsky Prospect, Moika River, Gorokhovaya Street and Kazan Street. In the courtyards of the university there are several monuments.
The monument to the Russian writer and poet Nikolai Gumilyov was erected recently, in the spring of 2019. Gumilyov lived in Petersburg at the beginning of the 20th century. The bronze figure of the poet stands on a bookcase of various figures. The elements that make up this unusual pedestal evoke associations with Gumilyov’s books.
