Greetings friends,

I am happy to be part of this challenge, bringing back memories of my youthful age. I am indeed thrilled to write about some of the games I used to play which reminds me of a time when children used to play freely 🌄🤔.

When I was growing up,one of Efik/ibibio games I Loved to play was nsa isong and anpaullina. This games were very popular among children in the community especially the girl child, we often come together in the evening after school, and house chores are done.

We usually play the anpaullina game in the Open compound on the Sandy ground in front of our compound, the game usually involves 3 people all female who will stand by your right and Left hand side to catch me up when I stretch backward . while Nsa isong was often played at the backyard where we have soft soil because we had to dig a round hole to put the game inside the hole ,"ikpok mfi" (periwinkle shell).
However, it wasn't only in the evening we play but also at afternoons especially on weekends like Saturday. It's involved 2 individuals who will compete to win .

This games were very special because they had a way of making me happy 😁 and satisfied, they taught me cooperation, they taught me patience. Through this games I learned to speak my local language fluently and confidently the Ibibio/Efik.

This games made my childhood memory very sweet, going back to those days however, sometimes it was difficult to always join the rest of the kids because somehow, I might be still busy with my house chores being a girl child, so seeing others play without me makes me sad that's if at the end I don't join them until the games end . I recall once when my mum came with a long cane to flog me because I didn't finish my house chores before going to play 🤣, She didn't meet me anyways because I had sighted her from a distance and I ran back home quickly .😆

These games have taught me many valuable lessons one of which is support, there was no fighting or cheating we learned patience, we clapped for others when they win as we take turns. For me, the joy was in playing together not winning. For anpaullina, the jumping and stretching meant exercising for me so it was all together having fun 😊

I am calling on my friends to join me in this captivating challenge.

It also makes me feel sad when I see children joyfully playing games, because it reminds me that those golden days are now behind us. Childhood games taught us priceless lessons like patience, strategy, and teamwork, values that still guide us in real life.
