Greetings friends and welcome to my blog. Today I decided to share with us the community of people around me and what our everyday life look like.

Where is this place located?
IMG_6095.jpegcommunity of people at Bariga stadium

To share in this challenge, I visited a local stadium (Bariga stadium) situated at Bariga primary school around my area of residence on a cloudy evening, the weather was a bit moody as if it wants to rain. A new sports facility like a mini stadium has been built in this environment.

IMG_6073.jpegThe stadium under renovation

So a football match was to hold in the mini stadium but on getting there, I noticed that the stadium was under renovation and the match didn’t hold again. Some persons have actually come around to all see the match only to be disappointed too.

Well, this turned out to another community of people who were still bent on having a good time. The various people began to do something else with their time. I will explain further in the next question.

Who are the people featured in your photographs and what are they doing?
IMG_6093.jpegneighborhood residents

In my photos are a group of young people who’s also resides in our neighborhood. They are in the place where the mini stadium that’s undergoing renovation is situated.

Since the match wasn’t taking place again, the young boys improvised their own football game on the Sandy open space beside the stadium. You can see them using old vehicle tires as their make shift goalposts.

Some of the boys were playing, while others stood around watching and cheering their friends on. The enthusiasm I saw in them was a show of their passion for sports even though a standard facility wasn’t in place.

On the other side of the facility were some group of boys in a small court participating in another sport. On that same side, there were a group of other boys who were outside the court with their trainer preparing to play a mini match on the Sandy path.

IMG_6086.jpegboys serving short punishment

The boys weren’t serious with their warm up exercises and their coach gave them a punishment to kneel down briefly. Soonest he released them as they began their training. I just sat down enjoying all the small community and their activities.

On the left side were another group of girls who were rehearsing a cultural dance performance.
Alongside were a group men who were beating drums and singing along to provide rhythm to the dancers.

Their dance was very interesting and energetic and I caught some of their dance steps in the video. I sat down down for a while watching the girls dance in groups of three’s and fours. Their dance steps and rhythm was really impressive. I doubt I could dance that good.

All together, these scenes portray an environment that was very lively where sports, culture and social interaction coexist in the community.

How do these people contribute to the local community or economy?

The individuals in my photographs contribute to the local community in several ways:

IMG_6072.jpegfootball spectators

Firstly, the young boys playing football helps in promoting physical fitness, discipline, teamwork and healthy recreational activities among the youths instead of engaging in activities that are negative, they are using their free time to participate in sports which helps to strengthen the social and community bonds.

Secondly, the cultural dancers and drummers are contributing in the preservation of our local traditions and cultural heritage. Through their rehearsals and performances, they are keep our traditional art forms alive and are also providing opportunities for younger ones watching them to learn and appreciate our culture.

Additionally, gatherings like these stimulate economic activities on a small scale as street hawkers come around to sell to people. There was even a young boy who came around to sell water to the dancers and the players. When these type of gathering are done on a larger scale, Street vendors, snack sellers, water hawkers, and transportation operators also benefit.

Even though the match wasn’t taking place, the presence of many residents created opportunities for informal economic interactions within the stadium facility.

These activities most importantly, help the residents to build a stronger sense of belonging and community spirit.

What did you learn or observe while spending time in this place?

I learnt some valuable lessons from my visit to the stadium:

I observed the resilience and creativity of the young boys. Despite the fact that the stadium was under renovation, the boys didn’t allow that situation stop them, from playing, they adapted to the situation by creating their field and using tires as goalposts.

I also observed how community spaces serve multiple purposes beyond their original function. Although the stadium was not accessible at that moment, the surrounding environment was still active and useful. It became a place for sports, social interaction, rehearsals, and recreation.

Another lesson I learnt was the importance of communal gathering. The excitements from the football players, the conversations from the onlookers, the laughter, and participation of the people from different age groups showed how such places bring residents together and strengthen the relationships within the neighborhood.

What story or emotion do you think your photographs convey about everyday life?

My photos tell a story of determination, creativity, resilience and community spirit.

IMG_6074.jpegmore spectators

Mere looking at the images, they may appear ordinary, showing a group of people gathered in a simple environment but looking deeply, you will seen people making the most of the resources that are available to them. The makeshift football field with goalposts shows the ability to create opportunities even when the when the conditions are not ideal.

My photos also convey a sense of youthful energy and hope. The excitement in the boys playing the football shows that Joy can also be found in simple activities and facilities.

In the same vein, the the cultural dance rehearsal taking place shows a community of people that value recreation and cultural expression.

In general, these images portray the beauty of everyday life in my local community; the coming together of people, supporting one another, finding entertainment through creativity and also maintaining a positive spirit despite the challenges we face.

They remind us that our happiness and community connection flourish not because everything is perfect but because we choose to make the best of what we have.

In conclusion my visit to the mini stadium revealed much more than I initially expected. Even though the stadium renovation stopped the football match from holding, the place was still full of life, energy and creativity showing the spirit of resilience and vibrant community spirit.

These moments serve as a powerful reminder that our everyday life is often defined by our ability to adapt, connect, and create meaningful experiences regardless of circumstances we face. It was a beautiful time of learning.

Greetings sir and thanks you again for your review. I believe in your ability to score rightly. I just get concerned when some things that are explicit seem to fall short. I am not questioning your sense of judgement, Why give me 1.9 when my steem steem atlas use is correct?

Greetings.

I think you have really captured the essence of the people living in your community.

It is a shame that the match you went to see didn't take place, but I much prefer that the young people made the most of the time by playing on the small court.

Your photos are lovely and convey the good vibes of all the young people and others appearing in them.

I wish you success with your entry.
