The insect I am presenting here is known as a caterpillar. I do not know its exact species name. From my observation, this caterpillar mainly eats tree leaves to survive. It usually stays on trees and comes out mostly at night to eat the leaves.

Eating Leaf

They are not always easy to see. I notice them especially when new leaves grow on the tree. At other times, they are rarely visible. I often see these caterpillars on the jujube (kul) tree in my home. They look quite beautiful, but their bodies have tiny hairs. If these hairs touch human skin, they can cause itching, so I approach them very carefully. With great care, I captured some photos and videos to participate in this contest. These caterpillars have been living on this tree for several years now.

Earlier, I used to see much bigger caterpillars, but now they do not look big anymore. Recently, I noticed some small baby caterpillars. At night, I carefully observe how they nicely eat the soft, young leaves.

This caterpillar is seen mostly on mango trees. When new leaves grow on a mango tree, many of these caterpillars appear on it. Most of them are yellow in color. However, the one I am showing in my photo is black and white.

I think these caterpillars are not native to our country. They may have come from another country and later spread in our area. Many times, they damage crops and vegetables by eating the leaves. Because of them, crop production can sometimes decrease.

When farmers see these caterpillars in their fields, they usually use pesticides to kill them, because they harm the crops. This type of caterpillar is seen more on cabbage, cauliflower, tomato, and other vegetable plants. For this reason, farmers destroy the. In my case, they do not cause much damage to my tree, so Idecided to leave them.

Rest in the Leaf

I never kill them. I always move very carefully so that they do not fall on my body, because if they touch the skin, they cause a lot of irritation and itching. Their bodies are covered with a large number of hairs, and their eyes look quite beautiful. They have so much hair that they look like a small blanket. Sometimes I feel that they use these hairs to protect themselves from the cold during winter, although I am not sure if this idea is correct.
