Rafiq's watch shop was at the very end of the darkest and oldest alley in the city. But no one came there to repair watches. Rafiq was a strange merchant, he bought people's time, the rule was very simple - anyone who wanted could sell a valuable year of his life and get 1 million taka in cash.
A young man named Asif, suffering from extreme despair, entered Rafiq's shop one day. He no longer had faith in his talent and hard work, he wanted to become rich very quickly. Due to poverty, he sold five years of his life for 5 million taka. Before handing the money to Asif, Rafiq signed an old leather-bound notebook in blood ink. Asif's body felt strangely tired as he left the shop, and his face showed signs of age. However, since he had a lot of money in his pocket, he didn't care about it at all. He did a huge business with this money. But it is human nature that when you get something easily, you forget to work hard. Asif was no exception. Whenever he had a slight loss in business or a desire to buy something new and luxurious, he would go straight to Rafiq. He would sell off a few more important years of his life in a hurry. Just like that, in just a few years, Asif became one of the richest men in the city. One evening, Asif was sitting in his luxurious drawing room, when it was raining heavily. Suddenly, he saw his own reflection in the large mirror of the room and was shocked. His hair had turned white, his cheeks were sagging, his eyes were blurry, although his age on paper was 30, his body was over 70.
Unable to bear all this, Asif burst into tears. He realized that in the process of building a mountain of wealth, he had sold his youth, excitement, and the most important moments of his life to that dark shop. He had no time to love anyone and start a family. He now had a lot of money but no time, energy, or people to enjoy it with.
Asif ran like a madman to Rafiq's shop with a bag of money in his hand. He fell at Rafiq's feet and cried, "Take all my wealth! Just give me back my lost time. I want to live again!"
Rafiq closed his old notebook with a light smile. He said in a calm and icy voice, "I only buy time, I never sell it. You sold time for money in the greed of shortcuts, but even if you put all the money in the world together, you cannot buy a single second of time. Your time is up."
