Where is this place located?

This place is located in the Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. It is closer to the old market, and it is along the Keffi-Akwanga Expressway. It is a small business centre that sells electrical items.

The business is in a good location, and it is easy to access as it is just by the roadside. The location of the business is a busy location, and there are small businesses around the place. This particular local store that I visited is where I bought wire and switched over from.

Who are the people featured in your photographs, and what are they doing?

It is the storekeeper who is featured in my photographs. The storekeeper is a young boy who, at the time I captured him, was busy measuring wires and checking for wire for me. There is a small seat inside the store where he sits and waits for customers to come.

At the time I went into the store, the storekeeper approached me and asked me what I wanted to buy from the store, which I told him just a wire for my electric cooker. He invited me inside and began showing me different types of wires.

How do these people contribute to the local community or economy?

These people contribute to the local community and economy by supplying and selling electric appliances at affordable prices to the local community.

1000651031.jpg1000651029.jpg

The people sell both new and old electric appliances to the local community. As for the economy, these people contribute through paying taxes and levies to the local community and the government, which is used for development.

What did you learn or observe while spending time in this place?

I observed that small businesses suffer a lot from low customer patronage to over pricing of items. While at the place, there is someone who visited the place to buy something from the place, and the person and the storekeeper were busy bargaining over the price.

1000651034.jpg

The person where pricing the item that he wants to buy at a very low price while the storekeeper refuses. I also observed that people underestimate small businesses a lot.

What story or emotion do you think your photographs convey about everyday life?

The emotion that the photographs convey about everyday life is the struggle to make a living.

1000651031.jpg

The photographs convey how people struggle every day to make money, open shops, try to convince customers to buy an item, run after customers, and do a lot of things to make money.
