A meaningful story from my childhood: Life's first big lesson.🙎‍♂️

Our childhood is a collection of innocence, small joys and big lessons learned unknowingly. But now that I have grown up, when I look back, I realize that the foundation of many of my life's values was laid by a small, big teaching incident in my childhood. Through this competition, today I will share with you a true story from my life.

✅ What is the childhood incident or story you want to share?

I want to share a story that happened in my childhood. That is, I made a big mistake with my childhood friends of using other people's things without saying so. And from this using other people's things without saying so and its consequences, I learned a big lesson in my childhood. That is the lesson of honesty and responsibility. Today I will share with you this lesson of honesty and responsibility that happened in my life.

✅ How old were you, and what exactly happened in that moment?

I will tell you about my childhood, when I was about 9/10 years old. There is a madrasa in our village next to the market, all the boys and girls of the village go to that madrasa every morning to study Arabic. There was a small food shop on the side of the road in that market. We were given tiffin time in the madrasa, and during this tiffin time I used to go there with my friends and buy different types of food items like chocolates, biscuits, chanachur and other food items.

We used to go there every day during tiffin time and buy different types of food items. However, one day during tiffin time the shopkeeper uncle was very busy giving food items to other boys and girls. But I noticed that there were some chocolates kept on the counter and the shopkeeper uncle was giving food to the boys and girls on the other side and was talking.

We friends were standing there then, but seeing the chocolate on the counter, I could not control my greed with the encouragement of my friends, so I took a chocolate and immediately put it in my pocket and left for the madrasa without paying the price of the chocolate.

But the shopkeeper uncle noticed that I had taken the chocolate without asking. I looked carefully and took the chocolate, then the shopkeeper uncle noticed that I had taken the chocolate. Anyway, every shopkeeper in this market knew my father well. The shopkeeper uncle of the shop where I had taken the chocolate without asking was already familiar with my father.

Since the shopkeeper's uncle already knew my father, he later informed my father about taking chocolates from the shopkeeper's uncle's shop without paying or saying anything.

✅ What emotions did you feel during and after the incident?

While stealing chocolates from the counter table of our market shop, I thought that no one would know that I had stolen the chocolates without informing the shopkeeper uncle. At that time, a kind of fear and joy were working in my mind.

But when the shopkeeper uncle told my father about the theft of the chocolates. And when my father came to know about it, he called me home. I was very scared and felt ashamed and scared.

I felt that I had broken my father's trust. At that moment, tears came to my eyes, and my chest became heavy. Then I bowed my head in front of my father again, I was so ashamed that I did not dare to say anything else.

✅ What lesson or realization did you learn from this experience?

After learning about my theft of chocolates from our village market shop, my parents did not beat me much, but calmly told me that.

👉 When you make mistakes, you grow, but if you do not admit your mistakes, you never grow, but remain small.

I understood from my father’s words that day that taking other people’s things without their permission is theft. I understood then that honesty is the greatest asset of a person, and admitting our own mistakes is an act of courage.

This incident in my life taught me the importance of truth and morality.

✅ How has this lesson influenced your life until today?

When I was young, I used to use other people's things without telling them, I was 9/10 years old then. Now I have grown up a lot, I am almost 23 years old. Today, when I have grown up, I have realized how much the events of my childhood life have played a big role in shaping my character. As I grow up, I still try not to go the wrong way. Now I have grown up a lot, but if I make any kind of mistake, I still do immediately admit my mistake. I even want to be a trustworthy person to everyone around me.

However, currently, there were many opportunities in my life to take shortcuts. But when I think of the wrong things used in my childhood, my conscience stops me. I still do not act unfairly, but rather act honestly and sincerely.

We all have some incidents in our childhood. But sometimes those small incidents in our childhood determine the direction of our entire life. In my childhood, that small incident of stealing chocolate from the shop in our village market was the first moral lesson of my childhood. Even today, when I think about the importance of honesty, I remember that fearful child of my childhood, who learned to grow from his mistakes.

This was a moral lesson that happened in my childhood. I hope you all like this incident from my childhood.
