Laundry mats are okay in a pitch like a temporary breakdown of the washing machine but having to sit around waiting for your laundry to get done isn't that comfortable. You have to sit in chairs that you have no idea whose been sitting there, worry about if someone came in with cockroaches in their bags or now a days worse yet would be bedbugs. Plus there's always that fool who took the day off from work because they are sick who decided it'd be a good day to get some laundry done and they are coughing all over the laundry mat....not to mention that you may find a quarter but doing laundry at home was ultimately cheaper.
....it's a rough job but someone has to do it. lol. A few months back I went to visit my brother at a prison...that's another uncomfortable "whose been sitting in this chair" scenario for me, not that they don't wipe them down at the end of the day because I've seen them doing it...which only reinforces my paranoia as being legit given how many times you see signs posted there's been some sort of health outbreak posted but those sick are not allowed visits, or worse yet you get there and the prison is under quarantine, anyway there were three bugs there that day, one that was crawling under the leg of the coffee table which turned out to be a spider, one that was crawling over by where the guard was stationed which didn't raise alarm bells as I can spot a cockroach a mile away...and the third was exactly that, a cockroach going up the wall behind some people sitting in front of the wall. They have strict rules there and you can't engage the other prisoners or their family members so shouting out an alarm wasn't an option but flinging my arms and pointing obviously wasn't as I didn't find myself reprimanded or escorted out afterwards but the funny part was those sitting along the front of that wall thinking I was some sort of nut trying to play charades or something with them. Finally one of them figured out I was trying to say "look behind you" and you never seen ladies jump so fast. So for me there's some places in life you only go to if you absolutely have to but there definitely will not be any hitchhikers coming home with me.
