What is nature, what is artificial? Everything is nature
Come to think of it, there's not a single thing you can mention that is not from nature. There are so many things that didn't come naturally, and by that we mean, come by itself.
Think about it for a second. We human beings are part of nature. I don't understand why someone would single out the activities of a human being as being artificial. The only difference is that it's done at a higher level.
I stared at an anthill for over a minute and wondered to myself how these ants know what to do, which pieces to pick and how to join them to form their colonies. If there was a giant watching down on us people, they might study us as we study the ants, and conclude that we build these high-rise buildings and planes so we can fly and computers so we can work even faster. We see all those things and we call them artificial, not nature but we might just be acting like the ants building their colonies.
Using the training of thought, I concluded without calling it a fact that, nothing is truly artificial in a sense that it's not natural. If the colonies are natural, the metal glass skyscraper is as natural as natural gets. It does have negative impacts to the environment and that's where my concern comes in.
Because anthills are carbon neutral and they enhance nutrient cycling and soil aeration. That's where the difference is. We need to learn how to build in a way that contributes to the well-being of the ecosystem. That's the bad side of what we see as artificial. Apart from that, everything we do is truly natural because we are from nature ourselves.
