Once upon a time, there was a young girl, Mary, who dreamt of obtaining a university education and becoming a graduate. She got admitted into the Department of Physics, but her educational journey was not smooth. It was full of obstacles.

Mary began her studies in the physics department, but she barely had a fare to school daily, and she barely paid her school fees because her parents were struggling to make a living, her mother sold fruits by the roadside. Mary missed lectures on several occasions because of her inability to go to school every day; she had to go help her mother in the market so she would have money for fees and fares.

Mary failed some courses in her first year in school, and this called for a reality check. Some of her friends asked her to suspend her studies because she couldn't focus due to financial constraints. Her parents were not smiling at Mary either, they thought Mary didn't appreciate their sacrifice and that Mary was not intelligent. This was so discouraging to Mary because nobody cared to ask what went wrong with her, but she determined never to give up.

Mary began her own business with a little money she had, that's selling panties and recharge cards. Mary also applied for a change of course from physics to health education which was approved by the school senate. When told her parents about the change of course, they became annoyed because they thought she was expelled from school. Mary never minded her parents; she was rather determined to prove them wrong. Mary sold her products to fellow students and lecturers and used the money to sponsor her education because her parents withdrew their sponsors.

Mary never missed classes again, she studied harder and graduated as the overall best student four years later. She invited her parents to her convocation ceremony, and at the ceremony, she was called upon to give a speech as the overall best student. In her speech, Mary said, "The journey to success is never smooth; it's full of obstacles, doubt, and disappointment, but resilience, consistency, and hard work lead one to her final destination, which is success. My educational journey was not exempted; it was full of obstacles, doubts, and negligence from loved ones, but today I stand among greatness as the overall best-graduating student because I never gave up, and I can proudly say this was a successful journey for me; thank you".

The Lesson: The Journey to success in life may be rough and full of obstacles, but giving up should not be an option, we should be resilient, consistent, and hardworking. Success will finally be ours if we don't give up!
