Throwback Thursday — Doing the Impossible with Steemit Learning Challenge
When last did you scroll through your gallery and remember moments from your pictures? Today I decided to scroll through my gallery to delete some photos and then stumbled on some amusing photos. There's nothing I haven't done to be among the winners of a Steemit learning challenge. As my title implies, I did the impossible because of the challenge. Normally, I'm not a fan of kitchen duties, but the challenges so far have made me a cook or chef. So the picture in my first impression is about a challenge we were told to prepare a dish, one we're not used to and one from a different cultural background.
It wasn't bad trying out new things, but then, I thought of various traditional dishes in other cultures, and they tend not to be the same as mine. So I went Yoruba, and I did this in rush hour because I didn't want to be exempted from the challenge.
I bought my foodstuffs and ingredients a night before and then used YouTube to learn how Yorubas prepare Ofada rice. I came to discover that this culture has a different type of rice called 'Ofada', and not just any type of rice is used.
Since this rice is not in the local markets, I had to improvise with a rice that looks just like it. The rice is called Sand rice. It just looks like the Ofada. As early as, I had to prepare this food. Even when I tried watching the method of preparing online, I still couldn't figure out how the sauce was made. I prepared the rice by parboiling it and then used 35 long peppers to prepare the sauce. Watching it on YouTube actually helped prepare the pepper sauce.
It was my first time trying out a meal from another culture, and guess what? It turned out well, but my mum and siblings didn't want to taste it because they were already choked by the sensitive pepper. They were just amazed by my creativity because I'm always preparing new things, and when they ask me what motivates me, I'll tell them I'm being challenged by Steemit everyday and week.

And I didn't want to participate in that challenge because it would involve spending money on those foodstuffs and time, especially when I didn't even know how to prepare the meal. Procrastination nearly took over on me, but I killed it and prepared the meal a day before the deadline. And guess what? I won the challenge. There's no greater joy in putting so much work into something and seeing a good outcome on it.
So these pictures reminded me of a time I prepared a Yoruba dish for the first time and made the aesthetics look so real and becoming as if I were from that cultural background

Wow, such a delicious meal. Can you tell how you make that sauce?
Ohkay. Let me give you a breakdown
