Greetings everyone here in this very community, it's a great honour to be among the steemians who wants to share great stories of thier travels. Growing as a kid my town normally takes me to the village to be with her mother during the holiday maybe assist her in farm work and house chores. After the death of my grandmother to pay a visit to the village seems so hard, here is a story of how the trip to my maternal village went.

I didn't wait for the cock to crow, I woke up so early because my mind was ready to travel to my village. We all woke up, my siblings and parent preparing to move so early. We finished everything including home chores and arranging of bags for the travel. My dad didn't have it in mind to follow us there because of his work so he decided to stay back just to complete his project.
We used public transit to move from our house to the main park, the park was occupied with vehicles, people of different destinations and shops. It was very noisy that I had to make use of my earphones, I kept hearing ikot ekpene, itak, port even with my earphones on.
We took a bold step of faith into the streets after walking about 10 minutes, a vehicle approached us giving us a lift for free. From the story the driver was my mom's classmate.

We saw a taxi going to ikot ekpene and the price wasn't like what we used to pay maybe because if how things are?. Who knows. I told mom to pay because there's no need pricing them here, we all entered the taxi to wait for others to complete.
We didn't wait that long for other passengers, the taxi got filled up.
We moved passing so many places to reach the ikot ekpene park, it was about 40 minutes plus to reach the park. The village is not far to me because nothing less than an hour you can reach there if there's no traffic congestion.

It was very hard to see vehicle that will transport us to the village known as ibiaku ntok okpor in ikono local government area in uyo. We stayed there for about 20 minutes without seeing any vehicle to our destination.

On reaching there wee took the popular African snacks being akara and bread to chill me down. The taste of the akara was so nice and tasty, I took a walk around the compound to check if I can still locate or remember some points.
It was truly out of the world, it was hard to remember because of the renovations. I took a walk down the main road to receive fresh village breeze, it was very essential as i stepped it down with tiger nuts.

The later offered us the best African delicacy being the afang soup. The afang is one of the best local dishes that's known to be the most consumed soup in Nigeria. It was a nice combo with white fufu, the pictures above shows how the combo was. I took off my wears to refresh myself before taking a walk down the village.
All eyes was on us, people kept staring at us saying that's ata ese ekpat grandchildren. How did they know? I asked my brother, Blood is thicker than water so they will know.

We also assisted to fetch water from the borehole, life there is not that hard as far as there's availability of water. We were really enjoying the tour from the onset, I took a chill before preparing for a closed person ceremony around the family compound.

We took a long walk to the oil mill, here palm oil is produced in large quantities for usage and for sale. The process was looking so simple from my view not until I reached the pounding and cooking area, I can't bear the smoke here it's too much telling it to my bro.
We stayed there for about 20 minutes before going to freshen up for the ceremony.

We moved down there seeing alot of our relatives and family friends, we were introduced to so many personalities in the village. The event didn't take much of our time.

Here in my mom's village there are different art works portraying the African culture and style. I took pictures with it including my sister too, it was looking so beautiful to take a picture with.
