Greetings to you all. I am @freshgrace here to share how I spent my day, how the power outage has been a great challenge to our daily productivity and other records of activities from morning till evening.

MORNING/AFTERNOON

The day was bright and fair, as I opened my eyes and saw the day smiling, promising a clement weather condition different from a few days ago. I thanked God for the gift of and the blessed day before I went straight to the kitchen to prepare food for my son to eat and take some to school after I bathed him.

School Runs

I fed him and the school bus came, the driver this time came into the house and picked him off to school at about 7:24am.

I was about to make myself ready for a burial at Utit Uruan in Uruan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom. A funeral of a Barriester who died suddenly about 2 months ago, leaving his wife and two children behind. It was a burial I wouldn't miss because of how close I am to the family. God helped me to go in spite of a few challenges, but I motivated myself as a man.

At the Funeral Service

Although a lot of money was spent for funeral service, decorations, and solid arrangements, it was still a teary one. The Presbyterian Church of Nigeria Uyo Parish officiated the service in his country home.

The high point of the burial was when colleagues of the deceased (lawyers) did their presentation, called his name for 3 times and there was no response, his name was crossed from being a lawyer and his wig, rope, handed over to his first son. People couldn't control tears. It was the end of his career journey, while the lawyers prayed the family should have a replacement possibly.

The Lawyers Performed their farewell Right

There were various groups in uniform, but the brass band (Anisax Brass) stole the moments by their professionalism and talents complementing hard work. I gave it to them. The choristers of Uyo church stood till the end to sing while the grave was covered.

Anisax Brass, Choir and Food Entertainments

It was 3pm already, and people were being entertained with food and music while some left. I spent a little time before leaving with one of our church elders. He took me to his landed property along the Odiok Itam community. Fortunately, we found mature plantain and cut two bunches, of which one was given to me.

At the landed property and harvesting some plantains

We left and arrived in Uyo in the evening. I was very angry that there was no power supply for about two days. Foods in the freezer are getting sour, and all the gadgets at home are off. A serious challenge. I rested until about 7 pm. I stepped out, found a place, and charged my phone, lamp with a generator. A friend across the road had put on his generator, and I rushed back home and arranged an extension box. That was how I powered my gadgets.

Electricity Challenge and Going out in the night to charge

Electricity is a challenge in this part of the country. We pay for it, but those in authority do what they wish, not what the masses would. I spent about four good hours outside and returned around 10:14pm. and embraced my pillows, and that was a good night 😴 anyway.

STAY BLESSED
