Life Changing Match
A thin, light weight, skinny teenage boy joined the wrestling team to prove to everyone that he was not a child anymore. After only eight months of training, his coach took him and some others to an open weight wrestling competition. Some of the groups had both boys and girls, and one of the girls looked impossible to beat. She was slim, strong and moved like she was born to wrestle. He could guess that losing to her would hurt him, since the audience was mostly made up of harsh boys who enjoyed mocking anyone they saw as weaker, let alone get beat by a girl.
He noticed a girl wearing a pink and white sports outfit. Her hair was red brown braids and she seemed new at first sight, but when she warmed up, it became clear that she was not weak at all. She had a good body and carried herself with confidence. The two girls ended up in the same group and the braided girl shocked everyone with her skill. She went behind the other girl, picked her up and threw her to the floor with perfect technique. Everyone was shocked to see that.
After that, the next boy in line refused to compete, probably because of what he had just seen. The boy was forced to take his place. It turned out that the braided girl had a name in wrestling and she had won many medals both in women's and open competitions. His hands were shaking before the match even started. His coach gave him tips, but he could not remember anything because of fear. When the match started, he was able to throw her around at first because of his size advantage. But after, she ducked down, got under him, hooked him and lifted, slamming him to the floor.
He got up again, but his mind was not focused anymore. She came behind him, hooked him again and carried him to the middle of the mat before lifting and throwing him just as she did with the other girl. He did not get hurt, but he was really shamed. After the match, he shook her hand and said good job to her. Then he went to the changing room and cried bitterly in shame.
It spread that he had been beaten by a girl and the bullying continued. At some point, some kids were so wicked that he tried to hurt himself. He stopped wrestling and fell into depression. After his parents got divorced and his father died, his life became even harder. Years later, his former coach told him to remember that feeling and train with the aim to beat it. He followed his advice, moved to another city, got into MMA and won his medals.
Many years later, he got married, had a child and then got divorced after four years of marriage. He took his son to wrestling camp, where one day he recognized the coach on the mat as the girl who had beaten him years ago. She was beautiful and when he reminded her of that wrestling meet, she remembered him. They started dating, got married and they have been together for 11 years. They had ups and downs and she even suffered miscarriage, but he still loves her. He told her that this experience made him stronger, but he never told her about his attempts to kill himself after it.
