The diary game ||"Monkey Tales"
Our University of Burdwan is situated on a sprawling campus spanning approximately 316 to 400 acres. It is home to a countless variety of trees—both familiar and unknown—which serve as a sanctuary for a diverse array of birds (both common and rare), monkeys, and langurs, as well as numerous insects and venomous snakes.
So, today, as we were leaving our hostel to head to the university, we had to cross a bridge. A troop of monkeys was sitting atop the gate of that bridge. There were baby monkeys among them as well. As we approached, all the monkeys climbed up the nearby mango tree; however, one monkey remained sitting right where it was.
A girl from the hostel stepped forward toward the gate. The monkey then attempted to approach her. Upon seeing a few people laughing, the monkey bared its teeth and lunged at one of them; unable to proceed, the girl retreated in fear. Two or three others went forward as well, yet the monkey remained undaunted and lunged at them with its claws. We were standing together in one spot at the time. I was intermittently recording video clips on my phone. However, the monkey suddenly rushed forward, advancing right up to the iron fence. There, quite unconcerned, Mr. Monkey sat down—resting a hand on his foot—and struck various poses as if entirely lost in his own world.
Since we were unable to proceed, many of us were attempting to find an alternative route. However, just then, a gentleman came riding along on his bicycle. As soon as we explained the situation to him, he broke off a tree branch and chased the monkeys away. The monkeys then retreated to a neighboring tree, carrying their young ones in their arms. Regrettably, despite having recorded a video of the incident, I was unable to upload it here.😢 Consequently, I have shared a few photographs extracted from that video instead. And so, that concludes today's tale of the monkeys.
