There's one statement people always use in my side which makes me think that money is the only thing that gives you respect. People tend to give you attention, respect only when you know you're guided(Nigeria way of saying you have money 😂).

They will say: what good advice can come from this poor and wretched person. As soon as someone is labeled as "poor" the person have no respect anyone.
But I think having good value is important though the society values money. I still remember this popular statement: a good name is better than wealth.

Even though the society, we still have good people with good mindset who still appreciate values over money.
