The Diary Game - 08/03/2024 - My Walk To Itam International Market Uyo

Shallom to you all dear steemians in the Hindwhale Community and the Steemit blockchain at large. Hope your weekend is splendid and memorable, if so let's give God the glory in the highest

Today being Saturday, I quite know that great numbers of steemians would like to go for weekend shopping. Me on my part, I had a great fun shopping walk to keep fit.

It all started as I took my walk from home to Itam International market to shop for food items since my wife was at work. Believe me, what I met at the market today surprise me.

Eddie said she will prefer Okra with a bit of melon mixed with spice leaf. Of course it has been a couple of weeks we ate it last, so I gave in to it and headed to the market.

The freshness of the okra was what caught my attention at first sight, so I stop and inquire about the price. Goodness GOD okra is so costly I exclaimed, and the woman told me that it is not yet the season and couple with the high cost of everything in the market. Well, I had to buy a sizeable portion.

I then walk to the stockfish section; hey! it is at the high side, the price has triple the original price and small size goes for ₦800. I had to pick one.

Just by the side of the stockfish is the Onion seller. I bought two medium size for ₦100.

Turning left is the Garri (cassava flour) seller who sells 4 small cups for ₦500. Something that use to be 6 - 8 cups for ₦200. God save us.

Then I walk over to the crayfish seller and bought a small portion which use to go for ₦200 formally for ₦500. It is just incredible.

As I walk forward a bit still looking to see what next to buy, I stumbled on the periwinkle, and I stop over to buy. Periwinkle is Eddie's seafood favorite, she would not enjoy the soup without it.

Since the soup is a mixture of okra and melon, I stopped to buy the tied once it should not be much, hence I don't buy in cup. The way it is tied now is so small. Na waoo!

This soup will not be complete without Pomo (roasted Cow skin), so I negotiated the price and bought a sizable one for #900.

Next to it is the goat meat. In fact, I prefer the male goat neat to the cow meat for such soup due to the flavor. So I bought a sizable portion and move on to see what is left.

I decided to go for this pepper because of its scent.

At this point I became almost confused thinking that I had misplace some of the items I bought because the polythene bag I use was not full in comparison to the amount I have spent so far. I had to crosscheck it again and to my surprise everything was intact, but my pocket is almost empty.

I began to reason, if things continue like this some months into the future, how will people survive? The economy is really bitting had. What a life.

Infact if I stay any further in this market, I will be thinking that someone snatched money from me, so let me begin to go home.

That brings me to the end of my shopping for the day. I almost spent my transport fare.

God help us out!

Thank you all as you took the pain to read along my market experience while I took you on that voyage.
