The Diary Game For 02/03/2024 - Assisting A Friend In His Farm

A very warm greetings to you all dear steemians in the Hindwhale Community and the Steemit blockchain at large. Hope your weekend was splendid and memorable, if so let's pup to it!

For me my weekend was splendid, remarkable and memorable as I engaged in a walk fitness energy zapping farmland bush cutting that left me feeling tired out.

Two of my friends visited me on Friday morning and solicited for my assistance to join them in clearing the thick bus in preparation for the planting season since the rain have started falling. I oblige without consideration to my schedule.

On Saturday morning, not minding the rain that started to pour, the four of us (Josiah, Moses, Ekom and I) headed to the path leading to the farm descending down the slop at Ikot Ekwere Itam overlooking Ntak Iyang from a distance.

Men, it's been a long time I have done this, I hope I still have the cutting technique! I said those words to Ekom, the third friend they invited. And he said, we will do it. Let's go.

Arriving at the farmland

As we get to the farmland, one thing that first captures my attention is this reddish looking fruit which I don't know if it is edible.

Looking very attractive to the eyes, I reach out my hand and plug one. . When I use my Google lens to check for the name, I found it is called
'Cnestis ferruginea'.

We change up our dresses and took our position and the cutting began proper. Little by little I saw myself doing wonders as we have covered some distance.

Later on someone else joined us and that makes us five in number.

After we have cut for almost two hours, at a point, we rested a bit to resharpens our machetes and also sip carry with akara to regain some more strength.

At this time, my friend Ekom that earlier told me 'we will do it', now looks at me and said; see you that was asking if you still have the technique, you are just cutting with great dexterity. I was like, I can't believe it myself. And we all laugh at it.

After resting for a while we resume work again and at this time the rain was drizzling and it infact help to cool our body.

My friend's wife later shows up with her friend and bring us food. We eat and feel refreshed with renew energy to carry on.

At the end of it all, we finished the work that would have take 2 - 3 days at once. We were all looking tired.

It is now time to return home, hiking up the slop is another challenge especially now that our legs and hands are heavy with build up stress. But despite that, home we must go, so we begin to climb up.

On getting to Moses's house, we settle for some light drinks. The drink is a local brew with some herbs to wards off accumulated stress.

Though looking tired and stressed out, I am mentally alert and happy that I have rendered a helping hand to a friend in need.

It was really a wonderful experience though, enjoying the nature in its natural scenery in one hand and in the other hand putting some farming survival skill to action, what a feeling of satisfaction at last.
