One Picture And One Story Week #36
Greetings to my steemit writers around the world. I am pleased to participate in this contest by @suboohi and below is my entry.
The candle light |
---|
The candle seems like a mystery with its different glow. Life is full of uncertainties, sometimes it might burn your world down or add more light and colour to your life to keep it bright and aglow.
There was a particular story I read sometime ago about a match stick girl that got me all emotional and I almost teared up. It was about an orphan girl that had no one not even an aunt or relatives who cared about her and her only companion was the glow from the match stick because it was the only color in her bleak world, sitting there on the paveway of the streets she always held on tightly to the only thing she considered a friend.
One night as she was sitting outside she saw a shooting star or rather a falling star as it was written there in the book and she thought back to how her grandma told her that a fallen star indicates the world is a lifeless, I mean short of one life. I really don't know how true that saying is and I've also heard someone else mention the same thing about a falling star indicating that the world is short of one life.
So back to the story the little girl was holding the match and she saw her late grandma descending and floating to meet her in a cloud , the little girl didn't realize at first that hers was the precious life that the world lost that day until she went to embrace her grandmother and turned back to see her own little body holding a still glowing burning up match stick lifeless.
That story really sank deep into my heart and I found it in a child's literature textbook and I think the story really made a lot of sense. The light from the candle varies sometimes it is a glow of blue which is regarded as a friendly fire or a medium yellow or a really bright burning red.
Relating these colors to reality sometimes our life can take the shape of a nice blue and might seem to be a bed of roses other times it could be a medium blue which would be a life not all that smooth but with little worries and it could also be a bright burning red that could be tearing us apart but in all it's up to us to keep that light aglow because when that light shuts down then that person's world has ended that is why it is said that when there's life there's hope, no matter what we are going through as long as we are still breathing we got to keep pushing till we shape the destinies we want for ourselves.
Sometimes some situations in our life are inevitable and instead of just wasting our time trying to avoid what has to happen feeling hopeless we could shape it, it's true that we cannot change it completely but we can't just sit there doing nothing; we could at least shape it to our taste. We do not have the power to change the past but that does not mean our lives should be moving on that same path, it's time to change directions. It's either the blue or the yellow or the red .
We have to decide which of the colors of the candle we might want to keep aglow. One thing I know I've learned is that life is either a sink or swim. It takes us to keep us afloat , yes, sometimes we feel suffocated and choked up like we are being pushed to the bottom of the sea but we HAVE to keep that candle light in our life aglow, keep that heart beating for as long as you can because that is the surest way that there could possibly be a better tomorrow for you filled with blessings far more than you expected.
KEEP THAT LIGHT BURNING |
