One picture one story

It was such a calm tide today, I feel as though it had the world to itself and all the time required. Watching the waves retreat out to sea and then race forward up the sand only to pull away again was soothing to my soul, such a simple, rhythmic occurrence that seems to bring with it a hush over the rest of existence. A simple and unpretentious day with a plain, soft grey sky which lent itself so perfectly to the simple occurrence, without any artificiality or enhancement.

I had a walk along the shoreline and left footprints in the sand, which slowly disappeared. How beautiful it is how we leave our marks on everything, and then the sea will just wash it away. In an unobtrusive manner though, and it will give you such a clear indication you have been there, but that this does not mean that you must stay in that place always; it does not matter whether you have been 'there' or not in regards to being somewhere new today.

I then sat and wrote my name on the sand: "Entity". Untidy and scribbled, not very tidy at all. I simply stood and looked at my name for a little while in such a detached, and somehow rooted manner, as if a piece of myself was being left behind, and was of no importance.

It inched nearer and nearer, and then slowly retreated, as if wondering whether to do it or not; I never interfered, however, just stood, as, sometimes, we just have to watch thing disappear naturally and not be so concerned, knowing all that really matters will not be gone even when it has gone from our sight.

This is not a snapshot of the beach; it is a snapshot of peaceful stillness, within the loud clamour of everything going on. It is the symbol that while the rest of the world continues to churn, we always have somewhere to stop for a moment's breath.

And this is exactly what I feel today is about, not clinging to any one thing and not ever having to grasp at one particular thing again, but being absolutely still in this present time; with the sounds of the sea and the sensation of sand, and my name etched into something which will not last.
