Another interesting week. I learned a lot from your courses, which were six weeks long. So I thank you both Professors @solaymann and @mahadisalim who arranged this course. And tried to explain electrical engineering concepts in a very simple way.
Even if one is not an electrical engineering student, he / she can easily understand these concepts. Unfortunately, I could not participate in all your courses. I have only participated in one course before.
So there were my papers. That's why I didn't participate. So I learned about this course and made a post, so I request my steemit team that you give another chance to both professors and Steemian learn about various concepts which is related to the field of electrical.
I pray to Allah that Allah may always keep you safe and give you success in every field.
Write three key differences between XLPE and PVC cables? |
---|
Difference | Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) Cable | Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Cable |
---|
Connection | XLPE cables are used for electrical connection of line above 33KV. | PVC Cables are used for electrical connection of line up to maximum 11KV. |
---|
Durability | The durability of this cable is high. | The durability of this cable is short as compared to XLPE. |
---|
Cost | Expensive as compared to PVC cables | Cheaper as compared to XLPE cables |
---|
Temperature | Temperature resistance of this cable up to 90 degrees Celsius | Temperature up to 70 degrees Celsius |
---|
Usage / Voltage | XLPE cables are used in high voltage lines | PVC cables are used in low voltage lines |
---|
Write three key differences between single-core, two-core, and three-core cables? |
---|
Difference | Single-core | Two-core | Three-core |
---|
Usage | Single core cables are used in Electrical connection for home | These are used in home appliance | These are used in three phase motor |
---|
Connection | Loads are connected through single wire | Loads are connected through two wires | Loads are connected through three wires i-e (Red, yellow, black or green) |
---|
Size | The size of single core cables up to (1-500) RM and these are used in low voltage | The size of two core cables up to 220 V | The size of three core cables up to (1-300) RM and are also used in low voltage |

Write about peak and off-peak hours in your country? |
---|
Peak & Off-peak hour |
---|
I clearly understand the concept of peak and off peak hours. Earlier I didn't know about these concepts because I'm student of law.
You explained to us about these concepts in a very easy way.
According to Official website of FESCO the peak and off-peak hours are below:
Months | Peak Hours | Off-peak Hours |
---|
December to February | 5 PM to 9 PM | Remaining 20 Hours |
---|
March to May | 6 PM to 10 PM | Remaining 20 Hours |
---|
June to August | 7 PM to 11 PM | Remaining 20 Hours |
---|
September to November | 6 PM to 10 PM | Remaining 20 Hours |

B. Calculate your house load and prepare the electricity bill for November 2024 by following Example 1? |
---|
In my house, four lights of 12 watts are on for 6 hours per day
Five fans of 62 watts (size 48 inches)are on for 4 hours per day
Refrigerator of 4k watts is on for 1 hour per day due to change in season because winter has arrived.
Our electricity company's (FESCO) electricity bill per unit is 0.14 Steem / 11.7 PKR.
Solution |
---|
Account to Formula |
---|
Electricity consumption= Watt × Number Of Loads × Hours
1KW = 1000W
Calculate the Electricity consumption of Lights / Lamps |
---|
Electricity consumption of Lights/ Lamps per day= Watts × Number Of Loads × Hours
= 12 × 4 × 6
= 288 WH =0.288 KWH
Calculate the Electricity consumption of Fans |
---|
Electricity consumption of Fans per day= Watts × Number Of Loads × Hours
= 62 × 5 × 4
= 1240 WH =1.24KWH
Calculate the Electricity consumption for Refrigerator |
---|
Electricity consumption for Refrigerator per day= Watts × Number Of Loads × Hours
=4,000 × 1 × 1
= 4,000 WH = 4KWH
Total Electricity consumption in a day |
---|
Lights/ Lamps + Fans + Refrigerator
=(0.288+1.24+4)KWH
=5.52 KWH
1KWH = 1Unit
5.52 unit consume per day.
Total Electricity consumption for November 2024 |
---|
|Using Formula = Total Electricity consumption in a day × 30
=5.52 × 30
= 165.6KWH
165.6 units
Electricity bill per unit = 0.14 steem |
---|
Total Electricity consumption bill for November 2024 = Total Electricity consumption for November 2024 × Per unit cost |
---|
= 165.6 × 0.14
= 23.184 steem
C. Calculate the total electricity bill with the HT meter values given in Example 2 and design an electricity bill in Excel? |
---|
Peak Rate 1.5 steem
Off peak Rate 1.0steem
Formula |
---|
R1 (Peak) = (2665.26-2625.20) × 18,000 = ?
= (40.06) × 18,000
= 7,21,080 KWH
R2 (Off Peak) = (9825.21-9692.81) × 18,000 = ?
= (133) × 18,000
= 2,394,000 KWH
Total KWH = R1 + R2 = ?
R1 = 7,21,080 KWH
R2 = 2,394,000 KWH
= 7,21,080 + 2,394,000
= 3,115,080
TOTAL KWH = (12490.47-12318.01) = R1 + R2
= 172.46 = 3,115,080
Total Electricity Consumption Bill= R1 (Peak) × 0.15 = ?
= 7,21,080 × 0.15
= 108,162
Total Electricity Consumption Bill= R2 (Off Peak) × 0.10 = ?
= 2,394,000 × 0.10
= 2,39,400
Sorry 😔 professors I don't know the use of Excel sheet to generate bill. It is very difficult task for me. So due to this reason I don't generate the bill. I apologize to you. |

D. Figure out the cable and circuit breaker sizes you need to setup a 20 ampere, 220 volts, and power factor (PF) 0.9 washing machine at home? |
---|
V = Voltage = 220 volts
I = Current = 20 Amp
PF = Power factor = 0.9
Power = P = ?
P = V × I × PF
P = 220 × 20 × 0.9
P = 3960 W
According to Instructor Instructions mentioned in course
So we dividing the answer of power (3960) by three
= 3960/3
= 1320 W
From my answer I clearly know that 1320 Watt load would require a 2.0 RM cable size mentioned in above figure in course and C10 (10 Amp) circuit breaker for that electrical home appliance load.
I invited to my friends to participate in this amazing contest |
