SCS32-W4 || Real-Life Problem Solving Challenge: Reduce Mobile Addiction

Good day, Steem Members! today I will be participating in this wonderful engagement contest Reduce mobile addiction

Many people use their mobile phones in different ways throughout their daily lives, Some use their phones mainly to keep in touch with family and friends, sending messages, making calls, or scrolling through social media to stay updated, For me, my phone is a constant source of news, entertainment, and information, helping me to stay connected to the world around me no matter where i am, my mobile phone 📱 is the major thing I use mostly every single day of my life because it's also the source of my wealth.

There are also those who use their phones as powerful tools for work and learning. They check emails, organize their schedules, and collaborate with colleagues right from their devices. Students and learners often turn to their phones for educational apps and online resources, making it easier to study anytime and anywhere. Many people also enjoy using their phones to take photos and videos, capturing special moments and expressing their creativity.

Besides communication and work, mobile phones have become a part of everyday convenience for many, People use them for navigation, shopping, managing their finances, and even tracking their health. This variety in how people use their phones shows just how important these devices have become in supporting different parts of life. As technology keeps advancing, mobile phones will continue to play an even bigger role in how people live and interact with others.

HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU USE YOUR MOBILE, AND WHICH APPLICATION IS USED THE MOST

Every single day i make sure that i don't use my mobile phone just to play games at first, In the morning, when i wake up, the first thing that I do with my mobile phone is attend to messages on all my social media accounts, At the time i was writing this post and when I checked my mobile screen time, it showed that I had used it for 3 hours 29 minutes on Thursday 18 June 2026.

Today the application i used the most is my opera mini app, because I normally use it to post on steemit, vote, resteem, comment and do all that is very necessary, not only today but I always use my opera mini app the most, but the application I always visit first everyday is my Whatsapp and Facebook, because I want to reply people messages so it won't be as if an snubbing them.

On my mobile phone i set my screen time reminder, it helps us become more aware of how much time we spend on our devices, In our world today, it’s easy to lose track of time while scrolling through social media, watching videos, or playing games.

The screen time reminder gently notifies us when we’ve been using our phone for a set amount of time, encouraging us to take breaks and avoid excessive screen use, This not only helps protect our eyes from strain but also promotes better mental health by reducing the risk of digital overload and distraction, that why I always follow my screen time, once I see that I have over stayed on one particular application for a long time and my screen time notifys me i normally rest for a while before starting again.

WHAT ARE THE REASONS WHY YOU USE YOUR MOBILE PHONE SO MUCH?

For me my mobile phone is one of my best friend, because 80 percent of my work is done with my mobile phone, and I usually use my mobile phone to keep my self busy and while away time when am lonely, another reason why I use my mobile phone so much is because mobile phones combine so many tools in one device camera, calendar, maps, music, e t c, which makes them incredibly useful for daily life. Sometimes, using the phone becomes a habit for me or a way to fill moments of boringness, It’s important to recognize these reasons so we can be more mindful about how and why we use our phones, and find a better balance that keeps us healthy and focused, sometimes my mum tells me that excess of something is not good but I usually reply that mum as far as I don't use my mobile phone in the wrong ways there is nothing wrong with it.

Am also a digital creator on Facebook so I use my mobile phone their too to do somethings like replying peoples relevant comments, and also replying their messages, mobile phone has modernized the world 🌎 as a whole because it impacts us either positively or negatively, because many people has their own way of using their phone.

SHARE THREE PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES THAT TAKE YOU AWAY FROM SCREEN TIME.

Before any activities would take me away from my screen time, that means the activities is one of my daily routine i usually follow and it helps me alot, so the activities that normally takes me away from my screen time is 👇

  • Watching Football with Friends

Every evening I normally go out to watch football with my friends, I make sure 😃 that I always go to watch football because I really love football and it's my favorite sport, and watching it together with others often encourages social interaction, cheering, and sometimes even playing football outside during breaks or after the game. It’s a great way to combine physical activity with social time.

  • Going for a Walk-out

Taking a walk outdoors is a simple and effective way also takes me away from screen, It refreshes my mind, gets my body moving, and allows me to enjoy nature and fresh air, which is very great for our overall well-being.

  • Praying my Rosary

Praying as well as praying my Rosary every single day, is one of the major activities that takes me away from my screen time, because as a CHATHOLIC member I normally pray the holy Rosary I make sure that I don't miss praying, because all work without God first is useless, we have to take God first in everything that we do.

WHAT BENEFITS DID YOU SEE WHEN YOU REDUCED YOUR SCREEN TIME

My mum normally tells me that all work without play makes @ikechukwu77 a dull boy, When I started reducing my screen time, I noticed some really positive changes in my life, I felt less tired and my eyes were less strained. Spending less time staring at the screen helped reduce headaches and improved my sleep quality because I wasn’t using my phone late into the night. I also found that I was more focused and productive during the day since I wasn’t constantly distracted by notifications or the urge to check my phone.

Another big benefit was how much more present I became in my daily life. I was able to spend more quality time with family and friends, and I enjoyed activities like reading, exercising, or simply relaxing without feeling the need to reach for my phone. Reducing screen time helped me feel calmer and less stressed, and overall, it gave me a better balance between my digital world and real life, It’s definitely a change I recommend to anyone looking to improve their well-being.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS TO AVOID EXCESSIVE SCREEN TIME AND REDUCE MOBILE PHONE USE?

In life as a whole there is time for everything, so I will make sure that there advice the person to replace so of his/her, screen time with other fulfilling activities, Engage in hobbies, physical exercise, or spend quality time with friends and family. These alternatives not only help you disconnect from screens but also boost your mental and physical well-being, Remember, technology is a tool meant to enhance our lives and not to dominate them, By using your phone mindfully and balancing screen time with real-world experiences, for me you can enjoy a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.
