Nowadays, smartphones are what people use the most for most activities rather than computers or laptops. If we're to carryout about survey about the use of mobile we will find out that most people spend more than 10 hours on their mobile phones. Here in the post, I have shared how I used my phone.

How many hours do you use your mobile, and which application is used the most?

At the time I was writing this pos,t and when I checked my mobile screen time, it showed that I had used 6 hours, 39 minutes during the day, on 15 June, 2026.

In the morning, when I wake up, the first thing that I do with my mobile phone is attend to messages on all my social media accounts, which I then open Chrome browser where I login into steemit, then Google Sheets where I got some screenshots that I use to publish the weekly report of my team. Just today, I have received 857 notifications across all the applications on my mobile phone.

From my screen usage, it shows that Chrome beta is the application that I used the most, followed by Facebook lite, Markor, which I do use for writing, WhatsApp, Mexc exchange, and others are my top-used applications.

What are the reasons why you use your mobile phone so much?

The main reason why I use my mobile phone so much is that 90 percent of what I do requires the use of a mobile phone, and secondly, my laptop, which I am supposed to be using in place of my mobile phone, is faulty, so I now depend more on using my mobile phone for work.

It is my mobile phone that I often use for my steemit activities, which I do use it to write and post my content, and engage with other users across the steemit platform. Also, I use my mobile phone so much for trading, market analysis, social media activities, communication, and a lot more.

As it stands, I now find it difficult to even use a computer or laptop to do most of my work because using my mobile phone seems easier, more easy, flexible, and enjoyable for me.

Screen time affects my life whenever I spend too much time on my phone or laptop without taking a break from my screen, and especially when my screen light is not dimmed low. When my screen light is too bright, it affects me, so I lower it by using night mode.

Share three physical activities that take you away from screen time.

The three physical activities that take me away from screen time are:

1000656087.jpg

  • Sleep or Resting: When I am sleeping or trying to rest, I don't go through my mobile phone. I often keep it aside, which is the highest thing that I can do with my phone when I am asleep: playing music.

  • Benefits: sleeping helps me to regain my strength and avoid having eye pain or feeling tired. Sleep is very important as it keeps us healthy and strong.

1000656088.jpg

  • Studying or Reading Bible: When it comes to my study or reading hours, I do go through my mobile phone, but I try to stay away from using it.

Benefits: This impacts me with wisdom and knowledge and makes me feel satisfied.

1000656089.jpg

  • Cooking: When I am cooking, especially when using a gas cooker to cook, my phone is always far from, msoandring such time I don't go through my phone except and unless I want to record my cooking activities.

Benefits: It helps me avoid getting distracted and enable to prepare a delicious meal

What benefits did you see when you reduced your screen time?

I feel less stressed and have less eye itching whenever I reduce my screen time. There was a week when I set myself a target that I would be more active on steemit, increase my trading time, which I spent sleepless nights on my screen, and felt a very serious headache and itchy eyes during the week.

Now, if I should spend like 1 hour with my mobile phone, I will keep it aside and engage myself with something else for like 30 minutes to 1 hour, which has been so helpful to me as I no longer feel headache or eye itching since I started this strategy.

What advice would you give to others to avoid excessive screen time and reduce mobile phone use?

My advice to others to avoid excessive screen time and reduce mobile phone use is:

  • Set Daily Time limits: there are built-in screen time trackers on most smartphones, which I will advise others to set daily limits for gaming, social media, and entertainment apps, which can help to resist the urge to extend them.

  • Create phone-free zones: designate certain areas as phone free comes such as your bedroom, dining table, kitchen, family gathering, work area, or study. This will help you to focus.

  • Avoid using your phone immediately you wake up: Instead of checking for notifications immediately you wake up, stretch your body, pray immediately or meditate, plan your day, and exercise. Starting your day without the use of your phone helps you to concentrate.

  • Engage in physical activities: Replace some screen time with activities like jogging or walking, cycling, gardening, household chores, or football.

  • Turn off unnecessary notifications: Too many notifications encourage frequent phone checking. Disable alerts from non-essential apps to reduce distractions.

  • Prioritize sleep: Sleep or rest when you're tired to gain your strength.

Weldone bro. I can see that I'm not alone. Truly I do always have eye itching whenever I over used my screen time. But reducing my screen time as really helps me a lot. The point is we shouldn't allow our mobile phone to control us , instead we should control them. How I wish I was there to enjoy your rice with you🤗, it looks so yummy 😋. Best luck in advance bro.🤝

Thank you so much for your support.

We live in a world where a lot of individuals make use their smartphones excessively. You could sometimes wonder if they control the phones or the phones are controlling them. To make sure I avoid making use of my smartphone immediately I wake up from bed, I turn of notifications before sleeping and do my house chores once I wake up. And truly, the mobile phone is more user friendly than laptops which is why I usually make use of my phone in the range of 6 to 8 hours. And I agree that one of the benefits is reducing our screen time could be as a means of giving time to make delicious meals, and I definitely fit in the physical activities category where I play basketball to reduce my screen time

Bravo amigo 👏🏿 &
Steem on!!!

You're right 👍 and thanks for your support.

I enjoyed reading your post. It is quite realistic to do important tasks like Steemit and trading on your phone because your laptop is broken. However, the experience you have had of headaches or itchy eyes due to excessive use is a familiar problem for many of us these days. The strategy you have started to take a break after using your phone for 1 hour to deal with this situation is really great and effective. The advice you have given to stay away from your phone, be mindful while cooking, or not check notifications in the morning is very timely. This effort to balance your digital life by taking care of your health, along with the needs of technology is really great. Best wishes to you in this contest. 🙂

Thank you for your support. Excess used of smartphone when the light is dim bright can affect my eyes.

You are absolutely right—using a smartphone in dim or improper lighting puts a massive strain on the eyes. Taking small breaks and adjusting the screen brightness can make a big difference. Stay safe and healthy. 🙂
