ACROSS MILES AND MONTHS: AN OFW FATHER'S FIRST EMBRACE
Being an OFW plus you have a pregnant wife left in Philippines is so hard yet you have to be strong for the future. Seven years ago, I deliver my baby while my husband is away. So, I really can feel every OFW wife felt delivering and taking care a baby alone. Yes, parents and siblings were there but it is still different when your husband is on your side.
And now, my sister also felt what I felt but the only different was her husband was able to go home when her baby was 3 months old while mine was able to make it and just waited for his VISA to expire because of so many reasons.
My sister was expecting that her hubby will go home this month but went home a month earlier because his mother died. So, we waited him at the airport. While we were there, I am also wishing that soon I will also be waiting my hubby in the same lobby.
Going back to the story..
After three long months of waiting, the moment was finally arrived. My brother in law finally went home and was able to hug and kiss her baby for the very first time. I can see in his face that yes he was so happy and at the same time sad because of what happened to his loving mother. Countless days were spent working abrout, and that moment it came to an end and will have countless days cuddling his little one. Carrying the silent distance while watching her baby on his cellphone really added the homesickness. Yet, every OFW dad should fight for it for the brighter future. Every sacrifice, every sleepless nights, and every miloe away suddenly became worth it the moment he stepped forward and reached out.
As he gently embraced his 3-month-old cutie girl, emotions overflowed even us who saw it also had a mixed emotions. The baby who is unaware of the story because of her innocence rested peacefully in her father's arms, while the father felt so much love and joy as he breath the same air as his baby do.
For an OFW parents, moments like this is so precious. They serve as the reminders that sacrifices were made for our future and the result is so fulfilling.
We then went straight to RibShack fastfood and had our dinner there before sending them to his house in Talisay to attend and glance his mother for the last time.
And thats it, thank you for reading everyone!
