Because it had put smiles on my face and that of others
Because it is second to non
Because it encourages me to save
It helps me to spend wisely

The list goes on and on.

When steemit was introduced to me, I had mixed feelings about it. Why? I lost some funds in some other online business that I ventured into. With it coming to focus immediately, I still felt it was another way to rip off my hard earned money from me.

However, after some explanations from the introducer, it seemed it was something real that can be done.

Soon I started with my introduction post. What were my expectations about steemit?

What were your hopes while signing up for Steemit for the first time?

While signing up on steemit, I was looking forward to joining a platform that will stand the test of time. Before then, I had registered with several platforms and they all disappeared within a space of 6 to 8 months. So I was hoping to see it stand the test of time.

Secondly, I was looking for an online platform that could be the source of earning passive income, while managing the little offline business that I was running then.

Finally, I was hoping that it will be a place to learn, increase my horizon so to speak, and improve in my knowledge entirely. It was a long time ago since I graduated from school and as such, I needed a platform that will help me learn more.

These were my hopes and expectations while signing up on steemit.

Your challenges faced while achieving your financial or blogging goals?

Well it has not been easy on the road towards achieving my goals. First, I was not used to staying long on my phone and writing long publications before now. So I guessed I really had to learn. Taking it up just as I would should I get employed and asked to perform task that I am not used to. That writing aspect was really an obstacle then. I personally didn't like theoretical courses but anything calculations back then in school even though I never failed anyone of them. I just preferred few words and then numbers to work on. So, learning that I would need to write upto 200 words, 300 and so on was a bit challenging to me then.

Secondly, thinking of what to write and how to start it up was really a challenge at the outset. I was confused on what to write on and developing topics too. I haven't been a content creator before. In fact, I loved reading other people's publications and wondered how they do come about such contents. It was really something that could have made me not to continue in my journey as a Steemian then.

The phrase earning is not guaranteed always rang a bell in my ears whenever I wanted to write. It was a kind of discouraging to know that not all publications that I spend time to develop will be voted on. I wasn't even too sure of what to expect as income unlike other platforms that I had been with where you are certain that at the end of the week of month or thereabouts, you are sure to expect a certain amount of income.

Data subscription for internet, good phone and knowing that I will always need electric light to power my phone was another challenge. In other platforms, I only initiate my transactions and then check on it intermittently until it matured unlike here on the blog where you need to be engaged most of the times to get the most out of it. I didn't always like that idea of always being online because of my data. Then the phone I was using wasn't too smart as at then. I had to manage it that way before I could buy new one. Power supply wasn't guaranteed and I didn't have power bank. I wondered how I could be able to stay online always.

Your inspiration on Steemit

The person who introduced me to the platform provided a lot of inspiration to me. He always encouraged me to continue and never back down.
Even when I decided that I was never going to continue writing, he called and encouraged me and even showed me how much I had earned. At a point he helped me to sell some steem and gave me the cash.
That provided more incentive for me to continue writing without letup.

Additionally, knowing that nothing good comes easy, kept me inspired too. I have always been trained to work hard in every endeavour that I undertake. I decided that I was here on the blog to learn and I focused on that. I also told myself that I won't be expecting anything as returns yet. Hence, I didn't even go to my wallet to check anything about my earnings. I wasn't even interested in getting votes or not but just to keep improving on what I was doing.

The friends I made then was also sources of encouragement to me. We were working as a team then and the type of contests that we were engaging in then was really inspiring like the diary game season 1 and 2, the then morning, afternoon and night update of our daily activities in the then SteemAlive community made Steemit very interesting to me then. I met friends from other parts of the world like @muzack1 and others who were regularly sharing their activities in that contest. Then the then fur-friends community that moved me to adopt my rabbits made it more fun.

The Idea that one can grow to the point of becoming mod in a community, country representative as it was then called and even build one's steempower and earn as one curates made more meaning to me.

I was also inspired by the #spud4steem that @kiwiscanfly was organising then wherein the highest amount of steem that is powered up in comparison with what one already had in his or her wallet wins and the winners received certain amount of steempower delegation for a certain period of time. That made me to even buy steem with my cash then and powered up to win 4th place at the earliest part of my journey here on the blog. It was interesting to come to the limelight through that means.

I also had some users who had been very successful on the blog who were great sources of inspiration to me.

Your happy story due to Steemit?

My joy and happy experience in steemit is endless.

It has proven to be financial backbone to my family and other extended members too. I have also introduced so many people, whose life have been changed positively because of their achievements from steemit platform.

I am my family have a roof over our heads not due to Steemit.
I rose to the point of being my country representative, a community owner, community mods to several communities and one who became a source of inspiration and encouragement to others here on the blog.

I celebrated my dolphins achievements starting from when I achieved 20k steempower. It was grand!

Organising meetups and taking the lead in steem promotion back then made Steemit more popular in my current city of residence. I will not make any exaggeration if I say that majority of users who are here on the blog and who are successful joined Steemit after hearing my stories. They can attest to it. And this is one of my greatest joy till today.

It has really proven to be a source of earning passive income just like I was hoping for. In fact there are so many positive testimonies which I cannot explain them all here.

Learning never ends! I have been able to learn a lot from Steemit here ranging from cooking different dishes to cryptocurrency lessons which I dreaded so much during my early years on the blog.
