Indeed earlier relationships had more patience, loyalty and endurance. People did not end the relationship over minor differences but tried to save the relationship in every difficulty. I also found your point very important that nowadays commitment has been replaced by situationships and temporary relationships. These things may seem modern and liberating, but often result in emotional distress, depression, and family problems. Especially when relationships are based only on temporary feelings, there is no stability left in them.
